Is the forthcoming ban on ephedra only on supplements intended for human consumption? Or is it on the sale of the herb itself? ---

As far as I know, only on suppliments. It also apparently applies only to supplements, not to the chemical ephedrine (typically sold as a decongestant), since that is already regulated as an over-the-counter drug. I don’t have the links to the FDA reports handy, but they were recently posted on the newsgroup misc.fitness.weights, which is probably the best place to keep up to date on this. ---

I do know that the use of ephederine in amateur sports is fairly high, yet no one is looking into the wholesale ban of everything ephed- (cite for sports: I took three ephedrine before every hockey game while I was playing high school hockey)
