Anyone know if there’s a .avi version out there? Of course my system at work doesn’t have quicktime installed, and I can’t install it as I’m not an administrator. _sigh_…stupid work ---

\I always took Shmi’s insistance of “no father” in more of a deadbeat dad sort of way. He’s either dead, or abandoned them, or is of such little account and imporance to Shmi that she prefers to think that he doesn’t exist. As in, “it’s not important who his father is, because he sucks and I raised Annikin.” Or perhaps she was raped. Anyway, I prefer these explanation over the mystical immaculate conception or midichlorians hocus-pocus, so that’s how it happened in Snickers’s world and that’s what she meant.\ ---

I they (Qui-Gon?) explicitly explained (or at least conjectured) that Anakin could have been conceived by the midichlorianianians. I can’t see bringing that up and then changing the story. Am I just wrong here? I haven’t seen either of the first two episodes in quite a while, so my memory may be defective. ---

There’s still post-production to be done, right? The effects in several of the scenes look a bit hokey. When we’re panning past several clonetroopers’ faces, they look somehow “plasticky”, as does Vader arising, and the droids look a little too shiney. It’s interesting to note, too, how the ship designs are evolving. We’ve got what appears to be a proto-TIE and a proto-X-wing (well, more of an asterisk-wing), and the big ships hovering above the assembled troops look rather like Star Destroyers. ---

Is that Anakin with the Jeri Curl, fighting Obi Wan at the end there? He looks quite different. Also – Vader has such teeny hands! He looks like Santa Claus from the Nightmare before Christmas! ---

I have to admit, it looks pretty impressive, but then again, I thought the same thing about Ep. II’s trailer. I’m curiuos as to what’s the deal with Anakin’s eyes looking all red and wonkey in that one scene, but it looks like the action in this one should be pretty intense. Yoda looks to be getting ready to kick ass in one scene…I wonder if it’s giong to be another bout with Dooku, or if he’s going to be going up against Sidious himself. Perhaps that will be left for Sam Jackson’s guy. As for Annakin’s father, I remember the movie mentioning that Anni was essentially an imaculate conception. In fact, it was a hug criticism of the film, so how everyone’s forgotten that already, I have no idea. I don’t remember where I read it, but I also seem to recall reading that they are supposed to reveal that Palpatine is indeed Anakin’s father…apparently, he’s been knocking up women across the universe in the hopes of creating a super jedi, and Anakin’s the final result. Of course, that was soon after Episode I came out, and I can’t remember where I read it, so it could all be shit.
