I first heard about Chick Tracts in a book called High Wierdness by Mail. Accompanying the explanation of what these little pieces of strangeness are was a tract I have since had identified as “The Last Generation” In this one the Rapture actually occurs as two of the faithful are being besieged by the bad guys! You should check it out. ---

Wow. I mean, just wow. I had no idea that Chick’s ouvre was so varied. Catholics, The Gays, truck stops, _and_ rock bands? I remember seeing “This Was Your Life” once and throwing it as far from me as I could. This is before I developed the subtly warped sense of humor I now possess. I think my favorite out of this batch is “Angels?” where the two band members get married and their manager gives them AIDS for a wedding present. Truly a thoughtful gift. :eek: ---

I’ll have to admit to a fondness for [Why is Mary Crying?](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0040/0040_01.asp) (My other favorite, [Dark Dungeons](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp) was previously mentioned.) Years ago (1988 or so) I was away from home at the corporate headquarters of the (now defunct) weight-loss company I worked for. Outside the training classroom was a rack of Chick Tracts. All sorts of them, some in Spanish, but a _wide_ selection. We weren’t really being given homework, and I didn’t much like going out by myself after class, so I used to take 3 or 4 tracts back to my hotel room with me, and go through them comparing the verses referenced to the real context in my handy Gideon Bible. It was most amusing, and enlightening in a bizarre way, since I’d not run into any sort of real fundamentalism before that. (I was raised mostly Lutheran/Methodist with occasional visits to Mass when my Catholic grandmother visited.) Yes, I’m a research geek, why do you ask? 😉 ---

[The Last Generation](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0094/0094_01.asp) has always been my favorite. During the 70s my mom was really into Hal Lindsey’s apocalyptic tomes such as _The Late Great Planet Earth_. I love Hitler-tyke Bobby’s dialogue, “I hate you and your Jesus!! You’re an insane criminal! I hope the healers kill you!” Jesus Billy, lighten up on grandpa. ---

Didn’t read any of the parodies, but if the stuff they’ve got on their about their exchanges with Chick’s lawyers are any indication, they sound like as big a bunch of jerks as Chick ever is. ---

Alas, the _best_ one (meaning the least homophobic and at least attempting to be compassionate) is WOUNDED CHILDREN, which, of course, is out of print in favor of DOOM TOWN (ref to Sodom), which I think is their anti-gay one. The first was THE GAY BLADE. Richard Lee as its source. He seems both sympathetic to what Chick tries to do (share the Gospel of Salvation through JC) while critical of his extreme paranoid forays. ---

I said it was less homophobic than his other gay-themed tracts and at least attempted a sort of compassion. I didn’t say it was accurate or successfully compassionate. ---

It’s quite obvious that that film was a coded message to the rest of the world about what things the folks behind the gay agenda were doing! The fact that the film _doesn’t_ mention anything about how after looking at porn, you “get the gays” is because they needed to slip it past the TPTB. Oh shit, I’ve said too much! Does anyone remember which is the one where Bob visits a park and sees two kids who are swearing (#@!\*%), and Bob lectures them not to use God’s name in vain? I’ve been looking for that one, it was great. One of the kids had a ridiculous outfit. ---
