Equipose does get very pretentious when blathering on about films though. Every time I see one of her screeds I can’t help but feel that instead of watching five movies a day, she should go out for a run or something. Maybe meet some real people. ---

**lissener** set the bar for movie snobbery so high that no other mortal can even approach it. I scorn lesser _poseurs_ as unworthy of my attention. I’m a snob when it comes to movie snobs. ---

I see nothing wrong w/ what \*\*Equipoise \*\*posted in that thread at all. \*\*Twixster \*\*made an ignorant statement about the types of movies that are released and \*\*Equipoise \*\*corrected her and gave a list of numerous original films out RIGHT NOW that prove her point that there is always a load of original material out there waiting to be seen, if everyone wasn’t clamoring to be the first to see something with Iron Man or Jack Sparrow in it. Weakest pitting I’ve seen in ages. ---

You’re pitting the wrong person. That is hardly the list of a “snob”, but of someone who sees a whole shitload of movies. ---

Looking at the posters in that link, she didn’t list half of the films available to **twickster**. ---

Depending on where you live and how far you’re willing to drive (or be driven), it may as well _be_ a fact, or at least seem like one. The only theater in reasonable walking distance of my home currently shows eleven films: one is an adaptation of a fairy tale (Snow White and the Huntsman); three are sequels or prequels (Madagascar 3, Men in Black 3, Prometheus); three are based on currently extent franchises (The Avengers, Battleship, The Smurfs). That leaves What to Expect When You’re Expecting, The Dictator, Chernobyl Diaries, and Think Like a Man. All of these films are panned and only one, s’far as I can tell, is even passably a good movie (The Dictator). So, eh. I can’t raise too much ire when someone complains about how the local theaters are overcrowded with sequels and franchises. Not everyone’s a movie buff with a local independent theater already keyed into her GPS, if one even exists. ---

Since when is walking distance the criteria? **Twickster** ’s location is Philadelphia, which isn’t that much less cosmopolitan than **Equipoise** ’s location of Chicago. Both are cities with public transit systems and a number of theaters showing a variety of films.
