Thankfully there’s no sign of Sam’s spawn. The gay storyline looks interesting; did the couple go to the trouble of filling out power-of-attorney papers, etc? Considering they’re both older men, out, and involved in HIV/AIDS issues it would be totally idiotic of them not to. ---

John Mahoney looked pretty good in drag – in that light he reminded me of Sarah Jessica Parker in 25 years or so. ---

My immediate thoughts about this episode: Thank Og they’re back to having patients instead of focusing on the staff. The blond chick needs to chill out, but she is kind of hot. But they just revealed her as a fundy, so I doubt she’ll last long. So what will it be–shooting, stabbing, or death by helicopter? Ff course, as I started this post they cut to the demon child. Who was Stamos doing at the end? I just caught a fraction of a second of it, and it didn’t look like Neela. ---

I don’t think she’s necessarily a fundamentalist, just, ah, serious about her faith; certainly she’d describe herself as born-again. I found her vexing. They’ve shown in the psat they can do a serious story about a religious character (Luka) without being insulting; this one was just annoying. ---

I knew that Sam’s spawn was going to cause problems for her about the shooting, though I thought he’d do it when the police were investigating her. Back in the second episode they had a moment where he shot her a look that indicated he’d seen her shoot his dad, and knew Pops was asleep at the time. ---

**Hirundo82** asked about who Stamos was with at the end – it was Trixie from Deadwood! I don’t know what her relationship is with Stamos’ character, but it might be his wife. Which begs the question about Neela. This was the most watchable ER in a while. Mahoney I think played the character well. ---

It will be interesting to find out who that was. And I agree–it was a very watchable episode. The Christian girl (Hope, I think) is played by Busy Phillips, aka Kim Kelly from the late great **Freaks and Geeks** , which happened to star a certainly young actress named Linda Cardellini, ie, Sam. It’s like when Robert Carradine showed up for a guest appearance back when Anthony Edwards was on, and it was a **Revenge of the Nerds** reunion. ---

Christian girl’s giving the patients life story instead of her medical history was just over the top not believable. Even a first year med student would know better than to do that. ---

I’m having trouble wrapping my mind around Busy Phillips being a hardcore Christian. It’s just too different from[the last role I know her from](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0118300/). Well, she’s definitely not being type-casted. Either I missed something, or I’m just confused. Did they say how long has passed between this week’s episode and the last one? Abby’s baby looks like he’s several months old… at the rate time seems to be moving, we’ll be at 2010 by the end of the season. ---

Morris offers to show her the ropes over dinner and before she’ll accept, she needs to know if he’s accepted Jesus Christ as his personal lord and savior? That’s a bit much. I think the writing for her characterization was a bit heavy-handed. And while she was blond and not unattractive, I wouldn’t go so far as to call her hot, despite all the drooling from the ER males. How many times before on this show have we seen young maverick ER doc ignoring the attending’s orders and doing what he wants, to negative consequence- 4? 5? It’s getting old. I’m not sure why I still watch this show (but I’ve been saying that for about the last three seasons). ---

Paula Malcomson’s character is supposed to be a single mother, according to the folks at the TWOP Deadwood board. ---

[/QUOTE] Pratt used to be one of them. Now he’s the play-it-safe attending. I don’t know about anyone else, but the John Stamos character kind of has a John Leguizamo Part Deux feel to it. I get the feeling he’s just there to cause major problems down the road. I want to jump through the screen, grab Neela, and tell her, “Run away! Run straight into Ray’s arms!” ---

Run straight into Ray’s arms!” [/QUOTE] Ya know, I was thinking that whole storyline with Stamos and the dying old guy was exactly the same storyline we’d seen previously with Pratt “saving” someone against orders and having the person he “saved” essentially being brain dead afterwards. I agree they need to come up with some new stuff. I am not crazy about hypoChristians but even I found that character insulting. It is possible to have her be a fundy and not totally inept at her job. Re: Abby and Luka’s baby; When asked earlier how the baby was doing, Luka said he was _starting_ to hold his head up. Doesn’t it take them a few months to learn this and don’t premies tend to go slower? I noticed that when Neela and Morris met up with Abby they were picking up the baby without supporting his head at all. It seems to me that if he was only _starting_ to hold his head up he would still need his head supported when being held. ---

[/QUOTE] I was talking this over with my ER-watching friends this morning and we wondered…sure it’s a tired storyline for _us_ but maybe it’s a common thing for teaching hospitals? Perhaps every other year they get the hotshot intern who’s been BMOC his whole life and needs to get smacked down to size? I have no idea if that’s true, but it could almost explain the commonality. ---

[/QUOTE] I started watching ER a few years ago due to my debilitating crush on Ms. Nagra & Ms. Tierney, but I’ve realized that most of the rest of the cast I already knew & liked, and everyone they bring on, I’ve already known & liked. It’s awesome. **elfkin477** - I never watched the Dawson, but I bet Busy’s character in F&G is even farther from the ER character. ---
