Ugh. Only a couple of weeks, so keep your fingers crossed. Hoping for the best and sending quiet thoughts to your GB.
Jeebus. I’m sorry, dude. I’m not sure how I’d feel if my surgeon put re-scheduling off so far. Pretty sure he’d still manage within the week, or someone else on the surgical team would take the case. Hang in there, man. How about some better drugs for any attacks in the meantime?
In an ideal world, it would happen probably two days afterwards at the latest.
Big personal GB events this past week with me. I’m going to post the sordid tale in the newest MMP when I’m ready, and put a reference link here for those still interested.
Good luck with the surgery. I had mine out about ten years ago with no ill effects. Unfortunately, last week I had that searing pain again, which I would have sworn was a gall bladder attack, but I no longer have a gall bladder.
Apparently, I am one of the lucky few who can produce stones in the bile duct itself, so off to the surgeon again.
What does an attack feel like? I thought I had one a few months back, but all scans and blood work said otherwise.
Mine was a constant, severe, crushing pain right under the right side of my rib cage, radiating to my back. It doesn’t dissipate no matter what position you’re in. The first time I had one, I thought I was having a heart attack.
Mine wasn’t that severe, but the pain just under the right ribcage and radiating toward the back, and inability to get comfortable. After about 6 hours of pacing, laying down, sitting up, pacing, sitting in a chair, sitting on the couch, laying down, pacing, you get the picture, I took a cab to the ER. Two hours, an ultrasound, full bloodwork and a couple doses of morphine later, I was admitted in preparation for surgery the next day.
The sensation I compare it to is that feeling you get when you get punched right below the sternum and it hurts so much you have a hard time breathing. Except that instead of lasting for a few minutes, it lasts for more like an hour.
OP here. Had the surgery months ago. All went well and I have noticed zero change since. I’m eating everything I are before and haven’t noticed any changes. All in all a very easy surgery.
Short hint: had my surgery last week, finally, and on an emergency basis. Had there been no pathologies involved, it would have been easier than my gastric bypass. Don’t let me scare you, except maybe to get it done.
My attack felt like my stomach was spasming, if that’s even possible. Staying completely still was the only thing that brought about any sort of relief. Any sort of movement, especially the twisty kind resulted in more severe spams. I was stuck at work with no way to get to the ER or I would have gone for sure. Driving myself was out of the question.
I’ve had a few more attacks since then, but nothing that severe. That plus nothing showing up in the tests has led me to just drop it. I’ll follow up more if another severe attack happens. Until then I’m a medical mystery.
