Fucking A, I got my first twitch in GD today to respond to a post with only links to old threads and mutter some comment about “this topic having been done to death.” I think that is a sign of SDMB-fogie-ism. Fuck that, I love GD. But goddammit, the faith argument is getting to be a fucking IMHO the way people play it out anymore. No intense philosophy, no perspective of different ways to view the same topic, we get the old [linkety-link](http://www.m-w.com/), followed by a [\*\*quote]d definition, and then proceed to simultaneously side with and counter the OP. Now, not that many debated don’t give a cursory covering of what really are huge topics, but man, the whole “faith/blind faith/atheists-have-faith-too” (whatever happened to **jmullaney?** ) is like a broken-glass enema to me. Didn’t used to feel that way. I’ve enjoyed submitting comments, linking to old threads as reference _while still commenting_, and generally being a what I thought a GD’er should be: inquisitive, patient, helpful, and tolerant. And then it happens again. **wring** , my dear, your frustration and the prostitution threads are palpable now. Everyone who ganged up on the Bush Defamation League™ cronies, and then gave up because of the endless procession of whining, has my understanding. Maybe I’ve just been too active, and need to do more drive-bys like **handy** , **tracer** , or even **guin** ’s seemingly recent tactic. Aloofness. Fuck! I’m getting to be a SDMB square! _sigh_ Any of the long-time posters have any advice? ---

Dude, I don’t know how you GDers maintain the same level of intensity in post after post, but taking a break once in a while seems perfectly understandable. Of course, my posts are pretty inconsequential, so I don’t have to worry about those things. I’m always on a break! ---

Change causes - for instance after the elections, the child molester and prostitution threads, and more recently after the 9/11 threads, I’ve decided that the topics I shall debate on consist of these: Tapioca - manufactured or processed (obscure family reference) Better living through hair products - fact or fallacy and bEGGONE dUST bUNNY mENACE. Don’t know if it’ll work for you. barring that, I suggest you have a teenager at home. That gives you a desperate reason to dive head first into the nearest on line debate. Of happy coincidence, my teen happens to be available for rent 😃
