I doubt that they were asking the pos to do it for nothing.

I wasn’t implying that they wanted him to do a freebie. I only meant that I wouldn’t appreciate it very much if my employer just told me that I wasn’t good enough to work there anymore, then suddenly asked if I could do them a favor and give them a hand for one more day. I would tell them to go jump in a lake and focus my attentions on finding a new job.
