Wow. I’m stepping away from the computer for a long bit now. But I did want to say thanks to the people who understood where I was coming from. I’ll probably miss a few but: Thanks to: **BBJ, Blessed Wolf, Mauvaise, Cauahtemoc, Jodi, Laur\_Ange, Zut, RickJay, Blackknight, Trion, and Truth Seeker.** Thanks also, to the many good people on the SDMB who were even-handed, even if they called me an “asshat” along the way. Don’t they know that’s passe? Fucknugget, please. 😉 Also, to those who sent good wishes via e-mail (y’know who ya are), thanks so much, I feel truly blessed. Y’all folks are great, thank you so much. And I wanted to take a special time-out to give props to **Joe\_Cool** and **Gobear** , usually at opposite ends of any given debate, agree here. I can understand the temptation to use this sort of comment against racists (and homophobes). Had whatshername: our Nazi Shiksa from Stormfront posted in the Pit, I was half-considering a “You’re repressing your lust for Jewish guys, aren’t you? That’s why you sound so angry. Just admit it to yourself. You want me.” type post. There are very few circumstances where **Esprix’s** comment would have been appropriate. Leave it to Acehole, the leader of the Banned to provide him with one. Fenris ---

Beleive me, **Fenris** , it gives me no great pleasure to beon **Ace** ’s side, when I’d much rather be supporting me droogie, **Esprix**. I can’t really fault \*\* Ace\*\* for the “skeevy pipe-smoker” comment because it’s something I might have said; I know in some long-dead thread I referred to some old troll trying to pick me up as a “fat, old shirtlifter.” I saw **Ace** ’s remark as an apposite comment on the nature of the complaint, although it’s entirely possible I could be taking too charitable a view. **Guin** , you are a shiksa, that is a Gentile female. Be glad you’re not a yenta. ---

Holy shit. I was wrong. I just looked it up: according to three different sites, it _doesn’t_ mean “bimbo”. It means “non-Jewish woman” and, according to some sites (the American Heritage Dictionary) has a _nasty_ connotation. :eek: Mea culpa. Fenris ---

Everyone got so mad at Kirkland for being rude to His4Ever, even though she has few supporters here. There is a big difference between saying something that is personally insulting (‘moron’) and generally offensive (what Esprix said). ---

Shiksa doesn’t have as nasty a connotation as _koorvah_, though. “_Oy_, **Fenris** , why can’t you bring home a nice Jewish girl instead of dating that _shiksa_” is not good, but “I can’t believe you brought that _koorvah_ into our house!” is much worse. ---

ACE, do not confuse criticizing SPREE with defending you. Those are not the same things. Nor should you take my opinion in this case to be my opinion ESPRIX generally. FWIW , I took ‘skeevy pipesmoker’ the same way I would have taken ‘dirty slut’ had the caller been a woman. Not necessarily a slur just because the caller is gay, but more referring to the caller’s methodology.
