There’s actually a surprisingly large amounts of Danes that emigrated to Utah to become Mormons. 17,000 between 1849 and 1904 making it the second largest group after the English. The English will generally detract in the overall attractiveness of a group but even a small number of Danes are of course a great boost, so one can easily assume they’re generally better looking (and cooler, and more intelligent, etc.) than the general US population.
Being married to a Utah Mormon, I will say that the majority of Mormons in Utah are of English and Scandinavian descent.
And yes, I will agree that Utah Mormons, women anyway, are the most attractive general population of the United States.
Why? Aside from genetics (Scandinavians are considered the most beautiful ethnicity globally), Mormons also have a good and healthy lifestyle. The religion ‘discourages’ smoking, drinking and premarital sex. When I mean discourage. I Mean, it pretty much outlaws it. And the church has a very strong influence of Mormon culture and society.
So, to me, Utah Mormon women glow because of naturally gifted genetics AND the lifestyle choices they make.
A Utah Mormon woman is truly ‘white and delightsome’.
The Book of Mormon passage to which you refer has been revised to “pure and delightsome.” However, I believe its counterpart descriptor from the Book of Mormon, “dark and loathsome,” remains unchanged.
Having spent many years in Utah previously, I can say many of the Utah women who are from Pioneer lineage have a similar look - most likely attributed to being in a desolate valley by themselves for a long time. The look is hard to describe but usually a very sharp taper to the chin, tall forehead, prominent rounded cheekbones, and often the Osmond type teeth.
I am not meaning this in a derogatory way, but just as a statement of observation. In fact if we happen to be watching some show where they feature real people or competition shows I can typically pick out a female who is from Utah and a Mormon before they either blatantly state it or something in the background gives it away (Like photos of the temple, etc).
This is a funny thread to resurrect, but I’ll add my anecdote to some of the earlier ones. I’m a Utah Mormon, living in a suburb of SLC. I’m the Scoutmaster (although I don’t know how much longer that will last). We have 3 Scouts in our troop, a Latino non-member kid, a black kid from Sudan, and a white kid (Argentine father). The Sudanese mother and her children make the only black family in the ward / neighborhood. They attend church almost every Sunday.
There are numerous surveys, opinions etc that are very easily searchable where Sweden, Norway and Denmark consistently rank in the top ten as the most beautiful, Women anyway, in the world. Also up there is Brazil, USA, Canada and Argentina.
To counter that. Apparently, the UK, England in particular was the country least accepted by Beautifulpeople.com
The majority of Mormon women directly from Utah, in general, are very attractive overall. The majority of them are tall, blonde with well defined facial bone structure.
Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. And to me, Mormon women are definitely on average more good looking than the general population.
Aside from their external beauty. The family values and work ethics that come with the Mormon upbringing is so much better than the selfish entitled attitude of todays young adults growing up.
The only Mormons I know are blonde and blue eyed. Her extended family and friends. All blonde and blue eyed. Thus, this is my experience with Utah Mormons. Mormon women are ‘white and delightsome’ to me.
I didn’t say that other 16% aren’t ‘delightsome’. I am sure they are. For every taste there is a taster.
