These beautiful space pictures from the Euclid telescope are worth your time. My understanding is the telescope is on a craft launched into space and capable of taking detailed wide-angle pictures showing galaxies separated by enormous distances. Since the pictures just show one day of observation, many more are in the future.

Thanks for the link - really beautiful images! I understand Euclid is going to measure red shift, look at gravitational lensing and other things and try to map the universe and understand things like the expansion rate after the Big Bang. I’m hoping we will get to see some stunning deep fields, very old galaxies and weird anomalies.

Perhaps if its wide camera spots something interesting, the JWT will zoom in for a closer look.

Thanks for that link. For more about Euclid…

> Euclid is a wide-angle space telescope with a 600-megapixel camera to record visible light, a near-infrared spectrometer, and photometer, to determine the redshift of detected galaxies. It was developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Euclid Consortium and was launched on 1 July 2023 from Cape Canaveral in Florida.
> After approximately one month, it reached its destination, a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth second Lagrange point L2, at an average distance of 1.5 million kilometres ...

But how do they keep the fairy cake from drying out?
