And, for the record, wehn REM was touring for Up, Michael Stipe came out on stage and played a solo acoustic version of Hope. He said he had decided to learn to play guitar. When you or I can’t play shit, we noodle around and play most of [Indigo Girls](http://www.brunching.com/yourroommate.html) songs. No accounting for taste and all that. For the record, I have no stake in this debate, although I will point out that John Mayer is a very very funny motherfucker.
