I pretty much love all animals, unless they get bitey. ---

I would scratch my cat’s belly and she would get all bitey and clawy. It was her way of showing affection. She never bit me hard enough to draw blood. ---

I’m not sure how much of this was “affection”, but years ago when I was working for a radio station, one of my tasks was to go out in the middle of the night to take tower readings for the official log. One time as I was headed back toward the station, an enormous raccoon waddled up to me and followed me to the station door. He would have gladly come indoors with me but I was able to keep him out. Later I regretted not allowing him in, then ushering him into the (universally detested) station owner/manager’s\* office for a wonderful surprise later that morning. At the time however I cared just enough about keeping my job to resist the temptation. \*who, before the advent of _WKRP In Cincinnati_ was known as “The Big Guy”. We also had a sales manager named Herb. ---

A roommate’s cat. I’m a huge animal lover, but i had it in for roomies cat from to get go. I didn’t want a cat, so i refused to acknowledge it. In a house of 5 people, the cat always slept with me. It gently licked my forehead every morning right before my alarm would go off. It was really sweet with a dish of tiny, half dollar sized turtles i had. The cat curled it’s body around the turtle dish when it lounged. It would sometimes gingerly pat the turtles, but it never batted them around. Looking back, it was a sweet cat and i should have been kinder to it. Same goes for roomie! ---
