Man, oh man, I don’t want to hear any complaints from you guys about being upset about being mistaken for a celebrity (well, OK, I can understand the David Koresh and Jeffrey Dahmer problems). I have been told since before the guy was famous that I look like Garth Brooks (and no, not in the Chris Gaines incarnation). We’re both big guys and I used to wear my hair very short like he does and I’ll admit, the resemblance is pretty strong. What makes this so bad? Guess where I went to high school. Yep, Yukon, Oklahoma. They even named the street that runs infront of Wal-Mart and the high school after him. When I lived in Yukon, I had people asking me if I was his younger brother. What makes it even worse? I **hate** country music. Of course, with a big mustache and a shaven head, I don’t get that much anymore. ---

I am regularly mistaken for Matthew McCona… McConaughe… that guy from _Vertical Limit._ Mainly by myself. In fact no-one else has ever commented on the resemblance unsolicited, and I often have to spend up to five minutes getting people to see it. But it’s definitely there. Except I have big sensitive blue eyes belying my sensitive artistic nature. Obv. However people do occasionally accuse me of being SOMEONE well-known, but are unable to put their finger “on it”. I seldom exploit these moments for all they’re worth. ---

I’ve had people tell me I look like 3 different celebrities, all of them musicians, so I think I might have missed my calling in life. The first one, and the only resemblance I can truly see is Iggy Pop, I’ve also been compared to the drummer from Crowded House, and Lou Reed. Now if I could just find a bunch of groupies to mistake me for one of those guys, I’d be happy! ---

Can’t say I’ve ever been mistaken for a celebrity, but I did have a weird experience once in Wal-Mart. Some girl (looked to be about 17) came up to me with a pen and paper and very nervously asked me for my autograph. My first thought was that her friends had put her up to it, but the way she was acting, I really think she thought I was somebody. I, of course, didn’t skip a beat. “Sure,” I said, taking the paper and signing my name. “Stay in school,” I said. Dr. J ---

Okay, this **IS** embarrassing for me and it took a few minutes of self-coaxing but here it goes… A couple of winters ago when I was wearing a beard I had two different people ask me if I was **Steven King**. Needless to say I quickly shaved my beard. I’m not saying he is an ugly guy but I don’t feel like I want to be “him”. I was also mistaken for **Kevin Mitnick** although I don’t see how considering how he looked when I saw his interview on some news magazine. On a related note, my wife is constantly thought to be either **Helen Hunt** or **Bridget Fonda**. I wish I saw the resemblance better! - Waneman ---

One of the fellows who staffed a cafeteria in college kept remarking how much I looked like Malcolm McDowell, as Alex from “Clockwork Orange” days. I never saw the resemblance, myself. And to be honest, I don’t think he was ever fully…sober (to put it legally). ---

I’m told I bear a striking resemblance to Country&Western star Vince Gill. The exectives at the A.C. Casino where I work gave me looks of consternation when the real Vince Gill arrived to give a concert. ---

People Slortar has been compared to: Cliff Burton Lee Dorian or Gaz Jennings from **Cathedral** Fred Rogers (?!) Guy Smiley Anthony Kiedis Probably more I’m forgetting. I get compared to a lot of people for some reason, as people can’t seem to grasp the idea that I look an awful lot like myself… 🙂 ---

I’ve never been mistaken for a celebrity, but I’ve been compared to: - Dustin Diamond (“Screech” from _Saved by the Bell_) - Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “Doogie Howser”) - Ben Savage (“Cory” from _Boy Meets World_) - NASCAR driver Tony Stewart - Someone from the group N\*Sync (Justin, I think is his name) - Some guy on the show _Sports Night_ (Never seen the show myself, so I don’t know who he is.)
