I can’t figure out for the life of me what I ever saw in frozen fish sticks and canned ravioli. Barf.

The Care Bears.

I loved the Care Bears when I was under seven. My friend and I, on a whim, rented **The Care Bears Movie** a couple of months ago, both exclaiming how we loved it as kids.

God. The worst hour and a half I’ve ever spent. I almost fell asleep, and kept myself awake by convincing my friend to do a Mystery Science Theater 3000 on the movie. It was pretty funny.

Another is **Pee-Wee’s Playhouse**. Another loved show of my childhood. A few years ago they started showing reruns on the Family Channel, and I was psyched. I never realized how messed up that show was until I wached it.

I feel the need to say that I still love _Tunnel in the Sky_, Twinkies, and _Labyrinth_.

Along with The Dukes of Hazard \*already mentioned, I’d like to thrown in Knight Rider and The A-Team. Just horrible.

sorry to take something from so far back, but this needs serious correction.

first of all…NO NO NO!!! you are certifiably insane. even if you are not a Last Unicorn fanantic like myself, how can you say it sucked? the story, which you claim has no cohesion, is part satire and part actual fairy tale and i think it is carried off beautifully. not to mention that the animation is gorgeous and, for the time, revolutionary.

and the screenplay was written by peter beagle, the novelist who wrote the book “The Last Unicorn” and who is generally accepted to be one of the greatest fantasy writers ever. he wrote the prologue to lord of the rings.

so, not to offend you, but i had to go off. that movie is great.

I’ve never seen an edition of Lord of the Rings that had a prologue, other than “Concerning Hobbits”.

This thread brings to mind a series of essays by the late, great, humorist & New Yorker contributor S.J. Perelman. He would revisit the pop culture he loved as a youth and write a hilarious synopsis of just how trashy it was.

Of course, his youth was in the '20s, so his pop culture was The Sheik and the novels of Elinor Glyn, but you get the idea. Great stuff.

My 1973 Jeep Commando with an AMC 360. Biggest piece of shit I have ever owned. Has left me stranded so many times I have worn out multiple pairs of shoes walking home. Wasted so much time and money making it run so it literally breaks down again two miles from home.

But I love it so much!

God, I’m an idiot.

What worries me is that half the world’s population is below average

I’d forgotten them! I saw the movie (first one) a year or so ago again and it hold’s up surprisingly well. It’s no masterpiece but as Roger Ebert says, “it’s the best movie that could have been made considering the source material.”

The first 10 years of They Might Be Giants. I often call them my favorite band, but truth be told, I can’t stand to listen to anything earlier than John Henry (well, Apollo 18 once in a while), even when I’m on an 80s kick.

The Last Starfighter. I thought it was one of the best movies around. When I rented it recently I realized it was a lame movie complete with a maintenance man that is even more offensive than Jar Jar Binks.

Def Leppard. I cringe to recall that I had a sticker of theirs on my car.
