Ever eat your meal like this?

Add me to the list of item-by-item eaters who don’t like their food items touching.

But there’s an important adendum: there are certain select pairs of foods that go together. Mashed potatoes and steak, for instance. Or shish-kebabs and rice. In those cases, the two items together comprise one larger meta-unit.

But salad mixes with nothing.

And most non-potato vegetables mix with nothing.

M&M’s = the green ones last b/c long ago there was a commercial with some kids playing little league and one kid said that he always eats the green ones before he goes to bat cause they are like home runs…so that’s what I do…homeruns for me

I also eat one item at a time and was scolded and ridddiculed for it by my family when I was a kid. It actually has a practical purpose - since I rarely finish a meal in “one sitting,” I’ll start with whatever isn’t as good cold or reheated. Example - if I’m noshing on a McNuggest value meal, I’d start with the French Fires. Chicken in an form is still good cold.

P.S. I agree with the advice columnist - kids have enough crap to deal with from thier peers without some neurotic relative making THEM neurotic. Sheesh!

Me too. I separate them into colors and then start eating the color that there’s the most of first. For example, if I have 8 brown ones, 5 red ones 4 yellow etc., I’d first eat 3 brown ones. Then I’d eat one brown M&M and one red one. Then one brown, one red, and one yellow.

I’m really *not[/] obsessive-complusive – this just seems an orderly way to eat M&Ms to me!

I have no other food compulsions that I can think of right now. Any food can touch any other and mix together freely on my plate or in my stomach.

Sometimes with M&Ms I crack the colored shell off with my teeth and eat it first.

The only thing remarkable about my eating habits is the speed.

What! I’ve been eating each of my foods separately my whole life, and never got any flak for it. It seems perfectly reasonable. I mean, if you’re enjoying your steak, why suddenly switch to another food? It makes no sense! Wait till you finish the steak, then move on to the potatoes! Mixing foods every other bite? That’s just weird! I had no idea so many people did this. Now I feel like a weirdo.

Though at least I don’t eat my M&Ms separately…

I segregate my sweet-tarts and eat them by color.

And I eat each food on my plate seperately, clockwise.

My brother eats counter-clockwise.

Hubby’s food CANNOT touch.

Yes, we have issues.
