I love Wendys. About the only time I got ill though was shortly after a Wendy’s burger as well, in Calgary… across from COP. Is that by chance the one you were at featherlou?
I’m all freaky and OCD-ish about food poisoning from fast food places after ordering a chicken sandwich once and finding out it was PINK in the middle after I’d eaten half of it. Now I compulsively check my sandwiches before eating them. My husband used to make fun of me for doing so until a few weeks ago when he ate half a Wendy’s bacon cheeseburger before noticing the bun was PINK and the meat was nearly raw in the middle. He spent about 6 hours in the bathroom after that.

I don’t have a cite for this but I’ve always heard that the first symptoms of food poisoning usually sets in within 8 hours of eating the bad food.
Not fast food, but my mom and I got sick from chicken pot pies from a restaurant. We were horribly sick for two days and the only time we moved was to run like hell to the bathroom. It’s bad when you have two cases of food poisoning and one bathroom. My toddler entertained himself by dumping out our purses and cramming non-VCR materials into the VCR. We were too sick to care and noone else could take care of him.
Now I’m super paranoid about food safety. I never eat out of the vending machines at work or any place that seems iffy.
This is my life story, except that it ain’t the squirts I’m gettin’. The last three times I’ve eaten at the King (hamburgers anyway, not their chicken sandwich), I’ve ended up hurling my lunch. I’m not prone to giving up on restaurants easily, but that’s it for me with these guys. Usta love Whoppers, but never again. Ugh.
Yeah, right. BK hasn’t met a burger it couldn’t nuke. I’m certain that I’ve consumed a 10+ minute burger at the King, but it ended up getting “chucked” anyway…
Personally, I hate Jack-in-the-Box and won’t ever eat there. I got violently sick once from just the French fries.
However, I followed the big E.Coli case and it was the trucking company (and the driver) who was eventually found to be at fault. Not that Jack-in-the-Box was blameless, but it was not entirely their fault.
There’s a good site here which discusses how long symptoms appear after food poisoning.

I once went a whole week eating nothing but burgers and pizzas. This was before I went away to university - I wanted to see how far I could go without having to cook (I’m terrible in the kitchen).
At the end of that week, I was sick of fast food. Didn’t fall sick though.
Now I can cook
When I was 16 or so, my Dad and I both got horrible food poisoning at a Whataburger. I’ve never been so sick in my life! And no, I don’t eat at Whataburger anymore.
That website makes me want to eat nothing but crackers for the rest of my life. I don’t know if it’s the meat or the cooking process, but I tend to experience a mild degree of gastrointestinal distress after eating at fast food establishments. And I have a relatively iron stomach.
