Droning along in a Cessna somewhere between Las Vegas and Los Angeles I needed to pee. It happens, even to teenagers which I then was. The Cessna was a trainer so a couple airsick bags were always tucked in the seat back pocket. Other than that I had no containers of any kind. Giving thanks for being male, I quickly arranged for me to be empty and it to be full. Now what to do with the bag? Itā€™s designed to be sealed, but mostly for holding chunkier stuff thatā€™s less spilly. And I still had an hour or more to the destination. Donā€™t want to have to clean that mess, and donā€™t want corrosive urine down in the ā€œbilgeā€ either. Opening windows while in motion is no bigger a deal in a Cessna than it is in a Chevy. By good fortune up ahead I espied me a wrecked car out in the middle of nowhere. Folks sometimes drag them out there and burn them or shoot them up for fun. Pretty soon theyā€™re just a brown rusty hulk. Bombs away! ---

Thatā€™s never happened on my phone, but years ago I inherited a previously used email address, and I got some weirdly personal email. I was put on an organizational list for a small college reunion. (I told the organizer to remove me, of course, but people ā€œreplying allā€ continued to include me for a while. I got photos of someoneā€™s christening. (I had the computer fake a bounce message for that. It seemed too personal to tell them the photos had gone to a random person.) Some other stuff. I have a friend who shares a name with a psychotherapist who treats sexually abused kids. They have similar email addresses. People mis-type. Sheā€™s gotten some horrible stuff. ---

The greeting on the docā€™s officeā€™s answering machine / voicemail mumbles the numbers just enough that somebody can easily mis-hear what it is. Then call me tomorrow when theyā€™re jonesing again. Iā€™ve gotten a lot of ā€œinterestingā€ calls at odd hours from drug-seekers. But nothing horrific. Back when I lived there Iā€™d answer such calls at reasonable hours and give the caller the right number. Hoping that then they wonā€™t call back tomorrow night. Besides, being nice to strangers is the Midwestern way. Now that Iā€™ve moved away but kept my number, any incoming call from my old area code thatā€™s not a contact is ignored. I wonder how much harm Iā€™ve done to his business? ---

Your experience was a fun one. Iā€™ve only had it happen a couple times, both seemed to be mistakes. Drunk people at a bar mistakenly sending a group picture. However this does have a pretty dark side. I first heard about this from a friend who lived in Japan.
