I know someone who had two children. She decided on names without knowing the gender, so she picked gender neutral names. ---

It’s a little early and a small sample size but I have a former co-worker with a toddler named Scarlet and her brother, expected in several months, is to be named Crimson. So I jokingly asked if any future children would continue the red theme; Brick, Burgundy or Ruby, perhaps. He hasn’t replied, so I may have pissed him off. ---

Like many others mentioned, my three brothers and I all have names starting with the same first letter. Our parents didn’t start out trying to be cute; the first three of us they picked names they liked and when #4 came along they thought “Crap, we can’t stop now!” I knew several families growing up who did something similar. ---

An acquaintance told me (in a HIPPA safe manner, really) of some patients whose kids were named after the cars they were conceived in. I wondered if they were pulling her leg, or she ours, but in a local playground one day, a young girl told my daughter, “my name’s Corolla, and that’s my brother Supra.” (Car companies and eras have been changed to protect the innocent.) ---

Off topic: for my first child, conception was random, she turned out to be a girl. For my second, I used an app to track my wife’s ovulation cycle, trying to get the right date (using the [Shettle’s method](https://www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/shettles-method)), and was especially romantic on that day. It worked, although, at best it is estimated to have a 70% rate of success. But our gynae told me about it in the first place… Hence I do remember the occasion of conception quite clearly. I think I mentioned upthread, all my (Catholic) father’s siblings were named after saints. My siblings generation are also named after saints, and my children, by proxy, also named after saints. One is named after my father, one is named after my godmother. By complete coincidence, though, my brother, my sister and I each have a name with a silent “h” - Michael, Anthony and Theresa. ---

My mother tried to: I’m the oldest and the next youngest sib has the same initials as me. The next next youngest was supposed to carry on the “tradition,” but it didn’t happen. The last youngest was going to have the same initials as next next, but that idea, thankfully, died on the vine. ---
