One day at work as I was about to be reprimanded for something that was really the responsibility of my non-existant supervisor, that should have been checked off on by my slacker manager, that never should have made it to the desk of the **firm treasurer** without like a hundred people checking it, I decided that instead of signing my reprimand paperwork, I’d actually sign the letters of resignation papers I had typed out (as a stress exercise) and hand those in instead.

I had never in my life quit a job without having another one lined up. I was scared that we wouldn’t have enough money w/o my paycheck. Well, I ended up not going back to work at all, and guess what? We have less money, but I’m so much happier homeschooling my son and working with horses. I was a wreck at my old job. Now I’m happy.

I was going to get laid off at one of my jobs, so one day I just up and left. A month later I was offered another job, in which I met a guy that fast became a pretty good friend. He infected me with the idea of going to the gym and getting in shape, and from there I decided one day to go to college to be a physical therapist. I didn’t end up going for physical therapy, but it WAS the working out that got me motivated for college. Two years into school I decided one day to go to an out of town college. So I moved from KC to Columbia, Mo. Not too much of a change, but it still is taking a bit of work. I am 28 now, so it is pretty wierd, as nobody I know is near my age.

I suppose I just did! two weeks ago i was informed that I’d have to start paying rent in my family home, and instead I decided to pay five times as much to move out on my own, despite a literal lifetime of being afraid that I wouldn’t be ready and that I needed to make as much money as possible before trying, and “maybe in a year…maybe once I’ve saved up this much…etc, etc.”

It’s wonderful!
In a few years I hope to work up the courage to try a different country.
