Ever started a good book, and 100 pages in, it takes a turn for the worse?

A Prayer for Owen Meany. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the book. However, as I was reading I was hoping for an epiphany – a reason to believe in God, a source of faith. One character had just always had faith, the other found faith later in life. I was interested in how that happened.

Unfortunately, the answer is that he witnessed, and partook in a miracle, basically. Which is a fine reason to believe in God, but not really that applicable to me, yet.

Great, great book though, which does not really belong in this thread.

I have been called defective for stating this before but here I go again: I really, really, really can NOT get through Ender’s Game. I just can’t find any interest or sympathy for any of the characters.

:smack: I ordered that book from Amazon earlier this week. I hope to disagree with you.

There has only been one book I have ever read 100 pages of, and then not finished it. It’s already been mentioned:

The Cat Who Walks Through Walls by Heinlein.
