I’m from Southern California and am now doing time in the Midwest, and people in both places seem to always say JCPenney’s. JCPenney’s what?

The J.C. Penney Company opened its first full-line department store in 1963, at which time they were called “Penney’s”; this was the case until 1971, when old J.C. Penney died and they changed the logo. Since this period coincides with my childhood in Southern California, I have always called it Penney’s.
