If you happen to be in the market for a pacemaker you will probably end up with a US manufactured one. They have the the majority of the world market also and are considered the best quality. I believe the UK and Germany also have pacemaker builders but they have a tiny slice of the market. ---

I remember one interesting point from Reich’s _Work of Nations_, where he pointed out that by the early 1990s it was not unusual to envision an American car with assembly and manufacture of components taking place in various countries, customer support in Singapore, advertising campaigns developed in France, and investors from Asia, the Middle East, and South America. That also reminds me of this short feature from the 1970s.
