Hey, Eve, Universal called. Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride have decided to take a break and remake “Love Story.” The studio is looking for a couple to step in and complete “Map and Pa Kettle Discover S&M.” You and APB interested? I can get you over the title credits and some backend action (snicker snicker). ---

MA AND PA KETTLE? Here we were, all set to start shooting the remake of “The Thin Man” for MGM . . . As if we would ever work for a Poverty Row joint like Universal, anyway! Ike—I will not even dignify your aspersions with a reply, you impertinent jakanapes! ---

I just thought “Any port in a storm,” you know what I mean? After reading about your troubles with MovieLine I figured you could use the work - and Bill Powell and Myrna Loy are threatening to sue if the remake is done anyway. “No one can ever replace us, blah, blah, blah.” You know the drill. I’m about to drop some stills from a Swedish “art film” they made (including Asta in the action no less) to Hedda and Louella so that out to put the kibbosh on their howls. Myrna tried for years to get Asta replaced by a Great Dane, now I know why. ---
