> Then why do brain lesions, injuries from gunshots, alcohol abuse, concussions, and strokes often lead to memory loss? If memory was “backed up” in some invulnerable “soul” thingy, then memory would never be lost. Memory is lost (alas, I can confirm that myself) and thus the connection to the “soul” is a failed explanation.
>
> In science, when an idea is shown to be wrong, it is discarded. In theology, when an idea is shown to be wrong, special pleading is resorted to. Which is more logical?

I thought no one would ask. If you are watching a TV set and the tuner starts to be damaged you will notice immediately that you are not received the whole show. The more the damage the less the show appears. The same with the brain. It is an interface and when it breaks down that doesn’t the memory is lost, it just can’t come through the interface.

The main proof is when one loses the control of an arm or leg this control can be regained with thought or trying to move it again and again. If the brain were hard-wired that could never happen. It is the thoughts of movement that restore the movement.

Where is the mind or thoughts show me memory in the brain, etc., etc.

You have a vivid imagination coupled with a disdain and complete ignorance of the scientific method(talk about being afraid of things you don’t understand), but what you don’t have is evidence. Lectures aren’t evidence. Speeches aren’t evidence. Those links to anonymous anecdotes you used to pass out like candy in this forum aren’t evidence, and your inability to tell dreams from reality certainly isn’t evidence.

You live in a world of make believe. Nothing you write is anchored in a shred of scientific reasearch (by actual scientists). Whatever illusions you harbor must help you cope with this big scary world but none of them are based on fact or data or , you know, reality. It is deeply ironic that your repeatedly accuse everyone who disagrees with you that they are afraid of your “evidence” while you admit to not understanding science and the scientific process. The latter being demonstrably true, how can you reliably tell fact from fiction?

> If science seeks truth then I am for science. If it only seeks to prove its own theories then I am not for science. We do not need another belief ;we need the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Then you can’t believe any religion about a supreme being, since that is only belief and has no proof it isn’t truth (or fact). Science continually seeks the truth, and it seems when there is a differece of opinion, Science wins out every time.
Science doesn’t claim something true until it is proven. Religions are just the opposite, even though it can be proven that everything written, taught, said, or thought, was not from a supreme being but of another human.Even the Bible (that humans declared to be of God, was of humans. And many things written about in the Bible were not true, like the flood, which was just a story, it is proven the world wasn’t covered with 29,000 feet of water, which would have been if the Ark finally came to a stop on Mt Ararat, which is 15 thousadnd feet high!

There is ongoing research at Duke, Colorado, Berkley, and many other universities. As well as those overseas. Why are some people so frightened of the truth, I have explained there is nothing to fear.

Science can find no evidence because there is non! After life is just a belief in the context you seem to see it.

Science has shown already, that when a person has a stroke some parts of the brain no longer work. it depends on where the injuries were. I had a friend who was in a bad accident, she could still do a lot of things, but didn’t recognize people, and couldn’t move some parts of her body. where the undamaged parts were she still could use.

I have a family member who had a stroke, he lost his use of speech, and one arm is paralized. That tells a lot about the brain, and Science learns more every day.

It is important to you to have your beiefs and I say," keep them". but it doesn’t mean they are facts.

You are limited in your knowledge I hold to no religion, and science is full of theories which have not been proven true.

Science discards the disproven theories. _That is how and why it works_.

I agree with this, but many of these people regain the use of their limbs and speech. This shows that there is much more going on than just a brain, there is direction and thoughts working to restore the movement to other places in the brain. The sign of a soul.

It was in the papers, documentaries were made and shown on TV even movies. The head surgeon agreed her consciousness lived after her brain was dead. It is still on the Internet.

Most of what I say is just common sense. Identical twins are identical in body but not in mind. No one is a bio-mechanical thing. We have free will we make choices and our genes have nothing to do with it.

What you consider to be legitimate research, isn’t.

It does not pass the credibility test. It is not supported by peer reviews. It has no basis in what is considered reliable science and scientific method. It has been discredited through it’s own false assumptions and claims. It simply isn’t fact based. No matter how many times I read it, it’s still not evidence of anything but incorrectly drawn conclusions. And you insisting that it is credible by adding personal anecdotes and unsubstantiated theories still doesn’t make it so.
