We are seventeen pages into a this discussion about God and you want to junior mod about the purpose of this particular thread? I’m not waiting for **you** or science to determine the existence of God before I speculate on anything. As I have said earlier, I have seen evidence of God, and it is personal. Do I have proof of God? Of course not. Do you have proof that there is no God? Nope.

Point well made. And I concede my ignorance on that particular non-existent law of physics.

Until you get back to quantum physics where sometimes things arrive before they depart.

If I was “junior modding” then so were you-I was going on what you said. And nobody is asking you if you have “proof of God”. What the OP is asking for is _evidence_…but every single time this comes up some religionist changes “asking for evidence” to “demanding proof”. If you want to start a thread asking for evidence _against_ the existence of your god, nobody is stopping you, btw. I’m just tired of these continual attempts to change the subject to something you’d rather talk about. Would you happen to have any _evidence_ that points towards the existence of whatever deity you believe in?

Hm? Are you sure? I didn’t think this was ever actually observed.

The only difference between us is, one of us has a higher standard for what constitutes evidence.

Are you under the illusion that there is some sort of equivalency between those two statements?

It was in the famous limerick about the young lady from Bright.

Yes. (This is a recording.)

I haven’t explained what I consider constitutes evidence. You don’t know my standards and I don’t know yours.

I could be mistaken, but the speed of light barrier was apparently broken in 2007 in a lab in Princeton, New Jersey. The heading of the article that I read on line had this headline: “Speed of light barrier broken - Arrive before you leave”

Excerpt:

Whats more, the light pulse appears to have left the confines of the chamber before it even entered a seemingly impossible occurrence according to theories of causality, which predict that causes must always precede their effects.

I suspect there have been many challenges to this experiment, but there is more information from 2011 that seems plausible.

I believe this was one of Niels Bohr’s interests too.

My knowledge of this subject is very limited, but I’ve read about these experiments in other articles.

I’m not changing the subject at all according to my belief system. As for there being “continual attempts,” I’ve gone several days several times without posting at all in this thread. If you are tired of my posts, don’t read them.

Your posts seem to be very directive and critical of others. Is that staying on topic in your mind?

In that case, how would you know I don’t have proof there is no god?

So tell us yours. The standards for evidence being used in this thread are in the OP, I believe.

I’ve just done some Googling, and, from what I’m able to find, no actual pulse of energy or information is moving, but only a pattern of peaks and troughs in existing light pulses. This kind of thing has been known for decades: the interference patterns in microwave waveguides, for instance, travel faster than the speed of light…but cannot be used to carry information or energy.

As a rough example, print two grids of lines on clear plastic sheets, and overlay them at a slight angle. If you move them, you can create moire patterns, representing the interference fringes of the two patterns. The patterns’ movement can be much faster than the speed of movement of the plastic sheets themselves. But no actual physical “thing” is moving. You can, ideally, rig it so that the moire patterns move faster than light…but you can’t use this to send a signal.

(I could be wrong, but this is what I’m getting from articles on-line.)

(It would certainly be cool if it WERE a workable method of signalling! Holy Wow! Einstein blown out of the water! Time travel made easy! An Ansible in a thimble!)
