But I don’t think that is enough. California has an excellent section on evolution, we got an A. While we might be better than Alabama, there are still lots of creationists here. Education happens once, but we are bombarded with creationists images all the time, even those meant innocently. Bill Cosby did the Flood. Fantasia 2 had a Noah’s Ark segment. Adam and Eve cartoons are all over the place.
It is kind of like Santa, except that the evidence for Santa’s non-existence becomes pretty obvious, while evolution is more subtle. For atheists it is easy to tell our kids right out that there is no such thing as Adam and Eve, but I suspect many religionists would worry that this would start an uncomfortable set of questions for their kids.
Thank You. I believe in time all will experience as I did.
Before or after death?
I really wish you hadn’t said that.
Some before and some after. Death is not an end.
I like to hear others’ beliefs, and there’s not much else going on in this thread anymore.
Does your faith include salvation and damnation, which is dependent upon accepting a savior, asking forgiveness, or another ‘active’ choice?
Only if your name is Cthulhu and the stars are right.
Please, please, do a search on lekatt and death. You’ll have plenty to keep you busy.
Or Superman or Jean Grey.
No salvation or damnation, no savior or doctrine, no penitence or groveling, no belief system or dogma, only unconditional love.
And the occasional killer hurricane.
and spiders - there are always spiders.
Oh, alright. I had no idea this was such well-covered territory.
Understood. It bothers me when visions and revelations are incorporated into religions that do have those features; seems awfully unfair to only reveal the proof of the faith that will get you into heaven to a select few.
All will go to heaven, everyone is included. The more it is explained the more confused it becomes. That is why it can’t be known by words.
I have learned much in 10 years what I said previously may or may not be relevant.
And by what method did you gain this new knowledge?
I had more general education in mind. Like teaching middle school kids about things like say the availability cascade and other biases. Teaching fallacy and other logical failings. We are all born with a brain, why the hell are we not passing out owners manuals? There is no good reason not to teach this stuff in middle/high school and it sure as hell would be more useful in life than french class.
I gained it through experience.
Yeah.
What kind of experience? Give us an example, please.
I stood in the presence of the Creator and felt the unconditional love emanating from Him. It is not so unusual, millions have done so. His love awakened the love He placed within me and I was never the same again. We all have the Creator’s unconditional love within us. Some connect with it naturally while others find it only in moments of great distress. Like a soldier that falls on a grenade to save others. Like the thousands that came to the aid of Twin Towers just because they wanted too, Like teachers in the recent mass shootings protecting the children with their own bodies. It is within everyone, finding it or connecting with it changes your life forever.
Nonresponsive religious glurge. Disappointing, but expected.
