NETA wow I had no idea that “bleach” was a valid tag for the board’s color command.

Screw it.

I’m a Mason. I’m not going to quote my role PM. The fact that I’m claiming Mason and will not be counterclaimed should be enough to establish my bona fides at this point.

Similarly, I will be offering no explanation whatsoever for the following:

NAF: 54722
Special ed: 11112
Cookies: 24601
Telcontar: 19991
lilflower: 80010
Total Lost: 01553
TexCat: 84743
If you don’t know what it means, you don’t need to know.

Just to confirm, all I know is that TL is not a deadite. That doesn’t mean she is town.

The more I read this, the weirder it sounds:

1. As has been pointed out, we only “know” that TL is not Deadite. Very different from Town.

2. “Not that I think McGinty is town” vs "I’m leaning more towards the former [lil being Town]. You’re actually unvoting someone you doubt is Town for someone you think is Town.

**vote brewha**

LOL Stanislaus, I’m sorry. I must have been driving you crazy. Given the number of numbers you’ve produced, though (and given how completely obvious I think I’ve been – though knowing me I’m totally wrong about that), I think I may as well just confirm you (and me) outright by saying that I am your mason partner.

As such, two things:

1. As I said earlier today, somebody – 05882 – did on day three what Mahaloth says he did on day three. Occam’s razor says this was probably Mahaloth himself. While his power could be a scum power, there’s no requirement for truthfulness in the timing of when it was used, so I am considering Mahaloth mostly-confirmed (niggling recruitment issues aside).
2. I was apparently wrong about being wrong. I was attacked by Telcontar. In turn, I’m not sure what this says about Hal Briston’s truthfulness. Probably just that there actually were two deadite attacks on Night One (bonus kill from special Ed, perhaps?), but I can’t rule out that Hal’s just a random third party confident that a lie would not be called out. His breadcrumb is somewhat convincing to me, but I’m not sure it should be.

Anyway, there it is.

</div>

And given it’s out there, what do you think about the plausibility of Special Ed going “scum-hunting” in a small (five-person) pool if someone _else_ in that pool is scum? Of those original Telcontar voters, you, I and Chipacabra are confirmed town and Mahaloth as good as – that only leaves brewha as a potential busser.

Not sure it matters as we likely have at least as many third parties remaining now as we have scum, but it’s been on my mind.

With no 3rd-party attacks? Hmmm…going to take quite a bit to convince me that no one with SK abilities or anything like that made a move on Night One.

The “cannot possibly be recruited” thing in a Mason’s PM could just be belt-and-suspenders confirmation that you are, in fact, trustworthy to your mason buddy right through to the end of the game.

As I recall, I had similar wording in my publicly-confirmed-Townie PM in **story’s** Marvel Civil War game, and I don’t believe that game had any targeted recruitment, just a couple roles that could pick their side.

I wasn’t going crazy exactly, but I was a little itchy about using the info. Especially as three of the people I investigated are dead now, and that’s likely to get worse rather than better. I can’t tell you how annoying it was to see two investigatees turn up Scum. I mean, it’s great that they’re dead, but it makes my value as a power-role less if I’m just confirming what already dead people actually did.

Right now I’m down to check Mahaloth. But I’m having second thoughts on that. If it’s just going to confirm he did the action and not alignment it might be better to try for a new number.

I agree that the “cannot be recruited stuff” is probably meant to stop us second-guessing each other, in which case it’s probably amusing story that it made you second-guess everybody else.

Other than Maha’s Census are your numbers all for deaths?

Alright, I guess I did overlook PFKs.

Unvote Lilflower for now

Is it really that horrible of reasoning, though? Seriously?

Lets say Lil flips scum? That’s pretty damning for TL. If she flips town, we at least know that TL isn’t a deadite. But, unless there’s a whole evil mason faction Lil wouldn’t be trying to help TL unless they were both deadites.

NETA, My point is that if Lil is town and TL is PFK, it’s just a coincidence. Even if they were both PFKs, there’s no reason for them to help each other.

Nevertheless, your plan basically involves lynching town to prove that TL is either Town, or PFK, or non-Deadite Scum. I agree that if lil isn’t town then it throws up questions about TL, but you said yourself you expect her to flip town.

I’m not sure what you know about how my role works – I wasn’t told anything about your particulars and got it rather wrong, as it happens. I thought you woudl investigate particular numbers, not particular people – I even left a code and breadcrumbs.

Let me know what you think I should share beyond what I’ve already said. But I don’t think Mahaloth would be a very good choice. Brewha, maybe, if he’s not lynched and/or doesn’t supply a confirmable claim.

I have only two numbers. My first night’s “investigation” turned up a null, as I got a “that didn’t happen” response (not much to go on from day one, haha). The second night I got Telcontar’s number, 19991. Third night was the block and last night (presumably) Mahaloth.

If I give a full role reveal I could let it be known just what variety of things I could ask about and how it interacts with the numbers you’ve already produced (or does not, as the case may be) – it might be best just to do this at this point. It’s not like either of us won’t be targets, regardless where we ultimately land on the “danger, Will Robinson” scale; even the mason thing alone would ensure that. So maybe it’s best to just give protective roles as much information as possible to make their judgments, and see what happens.

@ Tom Scud – we (scum) actually did have real recruitment in that game of Story’s you reference. We tried it on Special Ed and failed; he chose suicide, which was promised as an option in that game. I don’t believe anything’s been said one way or the other in this one.

I’m sorry to say I missed your code/breadcrumbs. PM to follow but my role works like this:

I investigate 1 player per Day and Night. My investigation gives me a 5-digit code, unique to that player. I know that Normal is my Mason buddy. I know that she investigates Actions and gets a 5-digit code representing the player who carried out that Action. When we compare lists, we should thus be able to find out who did what, provided we’ve got matching numbers. For example, I investigated Telcontar and got a code for him; Normal investigate who killed Chip and got a code for that player; when I published my list, she could see that Telcontar was the killer.

> Welcome to the game; you are the Improbably Skillful Computer Geek
>
> ALIGNMENT: Town
> GENERIC: Investigator
> WIN CONDITION: All Scum and malicious third-parties (if any) have been vanquished.
>
> BACKGROUND:
>
> You have spent your life studying computers. In the real world, this would result in your possession of a highly practical skill-set that would likely ensure you gainful employment for the bulk of your life. In the movies, however, this makes you a god. With a few keystrokes, you can access any database, crash any network, and obtain any information; what’s more, you can add pixels to unclear images, reliably impersonate the online persona of anyone on earth, and create a computer virus powerful enough to infect an entirely alien operating system.
>
> Of course, because this is a movie, you are also a painfully awkward shut-in with little to no practical ability to move about comfortably in human society. You have your trusty Macbook Pro (no self-respecting movie Computer Geek would ever even lay a finger on a Windows-based product, after all), and you’ll have to use that to be of help in the quest to rid the world of the Deadite threat.
>
> Fortunately, you have a partner in this endeavor. Her name is Normal Phase, and she is an Improbably Attractive Tomboy. Although you cannot communicate with her directly outside of the game thread, you have known her since your respective childhoods, and so may be assured that she is neither a Deadite nor a third-party actor, nor working with either of the above. She knows the same of you.
>
> Together, you make a crack investigative team; she’ll do the legwork, and you’ll do the nigh-on magical rapid-fire typing. Should one of you die, however, the value of the other as an investigative force will become somewhat muted. Also, then she won’t be able to relieve you of your long-treasured virginity to the strains of 80’s pop in a critical third-act scene. So watch out for one another.
>
> Good luck!
>
> POWERS:
>
> 1. You (and the Improbably Attractive Tomboy) are Masons; you may be assured that she is Town, and she will be assured the same of you. Neither of you is vulnerable to any kind of change in alignment under any circumstances.
>
> 2. Both you and your partner are among the top-billed stars of this movie. According to the Immutable Law of Horror Movies, neither of you can be killed until at least one hapless peon takes a bullet first.
>
> 3. Once per Day and once per Night, you may choose one player and perform improbably exhaustive research on them. This will provide you with a unique 5-digit code number representing that player. In the meanwhile, your partner will be investigating deaths and other events, and obtaining a 5-digit code number associated with the perpetrator of each. Combine your efforts, and you can identify the player responsible for any act.
>
> NOTE: Should you die, your notes may be accessible to the right sort of observer.
