And actually, the more I think about it, the more likely this is going to be a scum recruit style game. If you’ve seen the E.D. movies, you know that it starts as an evil “thing” in the forest and one by one, the cabin residents get turned. Starting with 4 scum would seem fair.

For those who didn’t notice, I am a ‘she,’ as **Guiri** mentioned.

With respect to **Romanic** , yes, it looks like PIS, but it also looks like a bandwagon that Scum may well be jumping onto in glee.

With respect to **Wanderers** , in Post #136

We will not start until the Scum have chosen, but we also will not start until Monday or thereabouts… I have a show tomorrow (Sunday) and will be incommunicado for most of the day and early evening, so I’ll probably start the new Day on Monday morning (assuming all necessary events have occurred).
>
> **So will you send out role PMs today, tonight, or tomorrow? Also, what kind of show, just as a matter of interest?**
>
> My point being, I’m not sure if getting the role PMs is the start of game, or we get the role PMs before start of game (i.e. Dawn of Day 1).

To which **Cookies** replied in Post #137:
As some PMs have already gone out, the game is already afoot I would think.

Someone who was paranoid and cynical, might think your question is trying a bit too hard to be obviously Townie there, Oy!.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to wonder why **Cookies** thought I was being (perhaps overly eagerly) Townie by admitting I had not yet gotten a role PM. We know for sure that Town had not gotten role PMs at that point; we didn’t/don’t know whether Scum had. What was blatantly Townie about my question as to when roles were going out?

You may or may not consider this a valid point, but it’s silly to vote for **Wanderers** because he admittedly it was _conceivably_ a little strange.

Roleclaiming on day 1 is sick and private talks are forbidden. Given my mistake, any claim could be interpreted as a cover role and would only benefit the mafia anyway, so I’m afraid my answer to your question is “no”.

I appreciate you not seeing me mafia even with this “slip”, and I bet that I could get out of it if this game was running on another site where most people knows me, but here I’m labeled as a noob and people will flush me for it. Can’t say that I blame them as I might do the same on a new player at the Org in the same situation.

🙂 Don’t worry about me. Making that kind of mistake as part of a 4 mafia team would be much harder on me than if I was a townie because the implications would be more important on my teammates. I’ll live through this one without any problem.

To those claiming there could be two mafia teams, I think this bold text above implies enough that there’s only one scum team around.

I’m posting fairly quickly here, so correct me if I’m wrong. Have we been told this is a constant recruiting game? I mean, I know scum got to pick one more player to join their team, but I don’t think we were told it would be continual recruitment.

Therefore, Romanic appears to have just slipped.

That’s the thing I am considering. 4 seems low for a scum team in a 30 man (non recruiting) game unless they are hella powerful or we are hip deep in 3rd parties.

I don’t believe this is an recruiting game (other than the mechanism already pointed out by the Moderator). That’s based purely on the gut feeling that the Moderator of this game don’t strike me as a game-designer that would find twists like that okay.

Also - 4 scum with 30 players?

I’m not going to vote on that. As for now I tend to believe that it was simply a brain-fart regarding another game.

I due however find it strange than **Drain Bead** would point her finger at any player pointing out that there was a slip.
Because there was - I personally just don’t see it as a Scum-slip. But the slip was there and should be addressed.

No, there’s a culture difference here. If you’re going down anyway, it is expected to role claim. Occasionally vanillas will refrain, but no one else (unless you’re Pleonast, who is not in this game). Reason being, if you have a good claim, we have the option to let you off the hook, temporarily or permanently, and to later draw conclusions based on that claim and the reactions to it. It’s a town-friendly thing to do, and not even necessarily a death sentence.

If you are mafia, then claiming is even more important (for the rest of us, that is). You surely have only a limited supply of decent claims; you’d have to use one up. Honestly, if you don’t put up a claim pretty darn quick under the circumstances, I’m going to assume you’re mafia and just want to save them for your teammates.

i didn’t follow the original ed game to its conclusion since i got scragged early on. but in that one there were two sks that got points depending on who they killed during the Night. and we had our own board where we could talk smack. if i at all recall correctly, i was only getting points for nailing scum, and blam was only getting points for nailing town power roles. any other deaths were just collateral damage.

so while 3+1 seems low for a scum team it still potentially results in 4 deaths per cycle. maybe more if there are any additional killing roles wandering around.

Yes, but with it being Evil Dead, I also think we can die rather easily and that deaths will be frequent. That would widdle down the numbers quickly.

I mean, that book must cause death, right?

I know for me, claiming isn’t necessarily a get-out-of-a-lynch-free card. However, this early in the game and in the Day, it does seem like the pro-town approach for you to take. The fact that you won’t leads me to believe that you are not town.

Also, four scum does seem like a low number for this large of a game. I am not familiar with Evil Dead I but based on what others are saying, it seems plausible that there are other non-town elements to balance the game and therefore, four scum is reasonable. The fact that you came up with such a specific number does seem like a slip to me.

This is really the only point that would make me consider sparing **Romanic**.4 Seems REALLY small. But 3 current scum to choose the 4th…we can’t let that slide. I’d be shocked if there were two scum teams, the wording of the Word of God seems to indicate that one team was choosing an additional member, but we could have multiple 3rd parties, sleeper scum, recruiting, etc. Given the weakness of my case against **wanderers** (not that i’m going to forget it), I have to acknowledge that **Romanic** is the higher probability bet.

Some snipping between the relevant points.

We’ll know tomorrow whether Romanic is town, and thus whether the scum are celebrating an easy day 1 lynch or mourning the early and avoidable loss of a comrade. If he’s town you could be right, but, as my impending vote indicates, I think that this is too PIS-like for town to allow. Given how fast this is moving, i suspect we’ll learn fairly little about the alignment of Romanic’s voters from Romanic’s own alignment.

**unvote wanderers
vote romanic**

Re **Wanderers** : Scum is always hunting for cases against town players that can be driven by other people. If we lynched cookie and they were town, then we’d worry about you because it would have been your idea. We might well forget that **wanderers** gave you a push. Also, I think your case against **cookie** was very weak, and i’m surprised that an experienced player pushed it.

If I remember the LOTR spoiler board correctly, **Drain Bead** is on record as stating that he thinks most PISs are made by town and pointed out by scum. So that is honestly his perspective.

Also, I forgot: I think the “snippet of PM” claim is a terrible idea.

Agreed, but that actually makes me more suspicious of Romanic, not less. I can’t imagine how any Town player could conclude on Day One that there were only 4 scum in a 30 player game. On the face of it it seems like way too few. PIS is the only thing that makes sense to me.
