After sleeping on it, I agree with everything **Stanislaus** just said. If **Romanic** is Town, the only way we salvage anything out of this Day is for him to leave ASAP. That’s the only way we can have the potential of finding Scum. Sure, we might mislynch, but at least we get info from it. We get precious little now, what with the near-unanimous voting. About the only way we could get anything useful for the Day if **Romanic** is Town and doesn’t leave is if everyone says who they’d be voting for if they weren’t voting for **Romanic**. Right now, I think **Oredigger** looks scummy, the former for his waffling and the latter for the odd defense of her friend (which I can sort of understand, but her insistence that this is a mistake more likely made by Town, or a Town **Romanic** at any rate, is strange). Of course, I think **Romanic** is Scum and this is a moot point, but it’s worth exploring anyway, seeing as we can get a head-start on Day Two if we’re right, and salvage Day One if we’re wrong but **Romanic** doesn’t walk.

Scenario 1 - Romanic is truthful and leaves soon

```
We get a truncated day to go fishing for scum
```

Scenario 2 - Romanic is truthful and sticks around for lynch

```
Day 1 is a mis lynch and there is not as much data as there could be, though there is still some stuff to look at
```

Scenario 3 - Romanic is scum so has to stick around for lynch

Day 1 is a successful lynch and there is not as much data as there could be, though there is still some stuff to look at

I would say 3 \> 1 \> 2. If Romanic is town the best thing is to leave, whilst still giving us as much time as possible to find another lynch candidate. If he leaves at the last second we get a _maximum_ of 24 hours to consider who gets lynched. This would not be great.

and i will third what **stanislaus** and **drain** said.

if he can truly leave he needs to do it sooner rather than later or just swing. i mean worse case scenario is that he is being truthful and drags this out and we just get a last minute clusterfuck.

in the words of john wayne: “we’re burning daylight”.

so shit or get off the pot.

Ok, let’s address the two points that really jump out at me:

> [@Mrs\_McGinty](#):
>
> Justifying future lies.

Errr, yeah. It’s Mafia – it’s all about lying. As scum, obviously I’ve lied. As town, then hell yeah I’ve lied – I’ve lied as a power role to make myself seem less important, and I’ve lied as vanilla to make myself out to be a juicy nightkill target. I know (or at least am reasonably sure) that we’ve never played together previously, but yeah, that’s how I play. Actually, it’s how _everyone_ plays – it’s all a matter of how honest you are about the fact that you lie.

> [@Mrs\_McGinty](#):
>
> Neatly sidestepping the discussion at hand to point out something which _might_ be scummy about the guy who everyone else is already voting to lynch, and who is basically guaranteed to leave the game today?

How is this “sidestepping the discussion”? I’m pointing out different reasoning for my conclusion. That’s a very oddball smudge you’re making there.

I don’t understand how this scenario could occur. Did I miss something? How are all Night actions going to be cancelled? Why is Day 2 shorter than most?

It’s an analogy. If Romanic is truthful, and leaves now, he is effectively lynched, we then press on with “Day 2” with no intervening night.

well it’s probably not in my place to try and interpret **ed** but i’ll at least summarize based on the **peek** filter.

if **roman** decides to depart that is equivalent to his lynch, a Night with no action and then a short following Day. because we will still be stuck with a short Day and a dead person with no intervening actions. and still need to decide who we lynch next.

Well, I guess there is no reason that scum would be on the first part of the wagon but not the later. I was thinking at the time that it was possibly a townie mistake, the whole me not buying the case, and scum love to jump on that kind of thing or it was a scum slip that was huge and the scummies are thowing their teammate under the bus. Either of the scenarios require the scum to jump quickly so I assume there would be more on the front end but after sleeping on it the less obvious play would be to come on casually either way I think there is a greater percentage voting for Romanic then in the population as a whole.

You got the order wrong on number 1. I voted for him for making a horrible misstatement, looked at the wagon formed and figured it wasn’t going to drop off so I should start looking for Day 2. He then claimed, I bought the claim and still planned to keep looking for Day 2. I haven’t gone through the other voters yet so I haven’t moved my vote. I think that Romanic should use his power it’s been stated over and over again why it’s good, proves he’s town and removes him from discussion or proves he’s lying and gets him lynched.

I’m assuming the later is directed at someone other than me but you didn’t mention who it was. Who is the later you are referring to?

Underlining mine.

Can you clarify this for me, please? You’ve stated former and later, but mentioned only 1 person. I’m left assuming that you meant Normal Phase or Mrs McGinty to be the later. Also, can you describe Oredigger’s waffling? I assume it’s another word to describe the case I’ve ade against him.

Not technically correct, but I do see the point you are making.

You actually noted the bandwagon before voting (though it appears that you intended to vote in the post where you noted the bandwagon)

It still strikes me as a vote but leave the opportunity to say you’ll change your mind. Folow that with a belief that Romanic is Town without a corresponding unvote and it all seems terribly fishy to me.

For reference here is your inital post on the _Romanic Debacle_.

You know, maybe it’s a liitle bit of confirmation bias, but it almost reads like “when Romanic flips Town, let’s look at the early bandwagon voters”

And, I’ll note, in this post, you don’t attribute the slip to a potential Scum slip with Scum busing occuring. You speficially state ‘town slip’

I can see where you’re coming from. I definitely wasn’t a clear as I could have been. Which I agree looks like scum trying to be wishy washy. I’m trying to clarify myself but there isn’t much more I can do besides find someone more scummy then myself.

Emphasis mine.
I see on preview \*\*Oredigger \*\*has also caught this, but it seems you’re talking about two people (former, latter; he, she), but you only mention **Oredigger** who as far as I know is not both he and she.

So it’s been nearly a whole Day since Romanic claimed and despite the fact that he’s still under considerable pressure and is still our lynch leader he has not exercised his power. I’m leaning more and more towards this being a bogus power (or even one given to Scum) so I’m going to:

**vote Romanic**

and echo other’s comments that it’s time to take a walk if you can. You have had ample opportunity for others to believe your claim and unvote you, but it just ain’t gonna happen Today and we need enough time to consider other lynch candidates.

Oredigger,

There still remains the fact that according to your own words, you believe that Romanic is Town, but you are voting to lynch him anyway. I understand that you haven’t found another lynch candidate that you are comfortable with, but I would think that _anyone else_ would be a better vote than s_omeone you believe to be Town_.

Why are you voting to lynch someone who you think is Town?

We’ll know whether or not Roman was telling the truth soon enough, so it’s hardly necessary to make arguments as to his guilt. More to the point, the argument is totally insubstantial, second-guessing both Roman and Story simply for the sake of accusing someone who everyone is already accusing.

I have learned to trust my instincts when scum-hunting, but I can’t account for the personalities of players I don’t know. Some people always act in a way that I would consider scummy. So, until I get up to speed, I like to check with those who do know the individual concerned.

Good question. Originally it was because I wanted something stronger then a FOS for the slip about the number of scum. Then it was a place holder while I was looking elsewhere. Right now I guess it is encouragement for him to use his power to disappear since if he uses it my vote will be released so it really doesn’t count. I’m still looking and once I find something I’ll move it.

Just to clarify since I seem to be having a problem there. A vote for Romanic if he’s town doesn’t really count since he will use his power and vanish before the end of the Day which will turn it into a non vote. If he happens to be scum then I’m ok with leaving a placeholder there while hunting for toMorrow’s candidate.
