But in this case it doesn’t look like ‘random voting’. You presented an incredibly weak case and a vote as if it were something real that other’s might get behind. You can’t use this excuse every time you get called out for a crappy vote. So what if it worked in Harry Potter?

The most damning of them to me are…

Those fall under the category of “good enough for Day 1”.

Vote **Oredigger**

Every time? How many times have I done it? _Early Day 1 is different._ If I were throwing out a crappy vote late in the day or working up a bandwagon on someone on my case, sure, I’d see your point.

Any of you play Bridge? Think of it as the early bids; early bids are for gathering information. Each bid has a purpose and meaning, but the purpose and meaning aren’t the actual bid! Only the final bids are purely bids.

This is just like that, except there are 30 players, you don’t know who your partners are, and everyone is reading from a different book of conventions.

Yeah, notice that that’s the one that ilooks scummy and is the one you’re getting voted for?

My point is that you shouldn’t expect to do be able to make a scummy, poorly reasoned vote and then hide behind “it’s early! I’m just poking and looking at reactions!”

Yep… and if you made really crappy early bids, no one would know what the hell you have in your hand!

Sorry, I just don’t get it. I don’t understand why it’s a free for all at Night but no touchy touchy in the Day. Makes no sense. I don’t see any harm in taking it in the Day any more (or less) so than at Night.

I think the idea is that anyone who takes it during the day will be seen by all, so the scum will not want to risk taking it, _if_ we say we will lynch anyone who does. During the night, only a few can see who takes it(?), and the scum will go after it, and better that the town should go after it first.

I don’t like the idea, but I almost get it. One problem is that we don’t know what happens to it at dawn. If no one takes it at dawn does it stay with the same person who had it at night(possibly scum)? Does it stand on the book stand idle and unread? I am assuming that it is a good thing to have (at least to some extent and for some period), but who knows?

Until we know more, I think the more hands it passes through the better. If NAF is scum and keeps it, he could tell us any number of lies about it. Much better that it passes through a few hands to get some confirmation.

Don’t we still have a whole real-life day left? I know I was watching with interest to see how the Chipacabra thing sorted out. I didn’t know it was a race to vote. 🙂

Right now, I’m gonna **vote Oredigger.**

The case against him strikes me as the best bet right now. I read Chipacabra’s entire posting history, and nothing up to his vote for Rysto struck me as scummy. I couldn’t read scum intention into any of his posts before that point. I’m not 100% on his reasoning for finding Rysto MORE suspicious for not voting Chip in revenge, and I’ll note that he never directly answered my question. However, maybe he feels his post (in response to Cookies) covered me as well.

And that’s all I’ve got. His responses seem normal to me. His case against Rysto was terrible, but his defense of his reasoning doesn’t seem particularly “off” to me. So, for a day one case, I can’t commit to a vote there.

Oredigger, on the other hand, is a far stronger case. I don’t need to reinvent the wheel here, I’m just gonna quote Guiri’s excellent post:

> [@GuiriEnEspana](#):
>
> \*\*
>
> - the scum jumping early on a “town slip” comment
> - the reluctance to join the bandwagon with lots of scum but joining anyway
> - the “sticky” vote comment
> - leaving the vote on **Romanic** despite believing the claim
> - leaving the vote until he got time to look for another case
> - encouraging **Romanic** to use his power and leave despite believing he was Town
> - suggesting a no lynch when he came under pressure

From the beginning, his comment about scum being among the earlier voters makes a certain degree of sense. Scum would love to bus a townie. But it was pretty clear to me that people were voting as soon as they caught up with the thread. And, combined with his own placement (towards the back), keeps him nice and clear while casting aspersions of doubt around.

Plus, a lot of his comments just don’t make sense to me. For instance, take a look at this exchange:

> [@special ed](#):
>
> In essence, Oredigger has stated that:
>
> 1. He beleives Romanics claim, yet voted for him anyway.
> 2. Early bandwagon voters are more likely to be Scum than later ones like him.
> 3. He will move his vote if he has time to find a person to vote despite the fact that he believes his vote is a vote for a mislynch.

> [@Oredigger77](#):
>
> You got the order wrong on number 1. I voted for him for making a horrible misstatement, looked at the wagon formed and figured it wasn’t going to drop off so I should start looking for Day 2. He then claimed, I bought the claim and still planned to keep looking for Day 2. I haven’t gone through the other voters yet so I haven’t moved my vote. I think that Romanic should use his power it’s been stated over and over again why it’s good, proves he’s town and removes him from discussion or proves he’s lying and gets him lynched.

I can’t reconcile that comment with somebody who believed Romanic was town. I’m maybe reading too much into this, but his sentence structure implies that he voted, and pretty quickly after that noticed the wagon forming.

Here’s Storyteller’s vote count prior to my vote.

> [@](#):
>
> Romanic – 11 votes – special ed (466), GuiriEnEspana (469), One and Only Wanderers (471), Drain Bead (472), brewha (480), NAF1138 (486), Mahaloth (487), lilflower (496), Normal Phase (497), Telcontar (498), Rysto (500)

Notice Oredigger hasn’t voted yet. Two more people (myself and Suburban) will place votes on Romanic before Oredigger’s post which meant to vote for him. That’s 13 votes, a clear breakaway leader, before Oredigger chimes in. And yet, in response to special ed, he claims that he voted, and then noticed the ‘scummy’ wagon forming? Don’t forget, this is part of a post where he’s chiding Ed and **clearing up** ed’s chronological mistakes. Vote, Notice Bandwagon, Leave Vote Up. That’s Oredigger’s official stance on the chronology of his voting.

I’m not buying it. There’s no way he completely missed all of the other folks voting for Romanic. And voting for someone you believe is town is crazy talk. What if Romanic was town, but his power didn’t quite work the way he claimed? What if he almost managed to convince enough people to unvote him, but was short one unvote? Oops.

> Anyone else notice that there was a bandwagon that was building up a nice head of steam before it got derailed?

No, not really. I went back through the votes post-Romanic’s exit. Oredigger pretty quickly picked up five votes, based on a pre-existing case. Then:

peeker voted for Mrs McG
Oy! voted for you
Chip votes Rysto
(TexCat votes Oredigger)
USCDiver and OAOW vote Chip
(NAF votes Oredigger)
Natlaw votes Chip

and then the bandwagon on Digger picks up again.

Nobody unvotes Oredigger. Where was the derailment? Which votes do you think were an attempt to stop the wagon? Which posts?

I think the case against Oredigger is a good one, but I’m very suspicious of this post which is egging people on to vote him because of some vague fear that there’s some ill-defined attempt to protect him going on. Your obviously trying to whip us back on to the scent, but why? He was still a comfortable vote leader.

I thought it was a valid question. If Oredigger gets lynched and comes back scum, a potential attempt to derail the bandwagon on him becomes a datapoint.

So what did my reaction tell you? How exactly did it out scum previously? I’m having trouble seeing how anyone can overreact on a random vote (on the low posters) because it simply based on flip of the coin. Perhaps you mean for voting in return for placing a random vote? Did **Romanic** overreact (the only other one who commented on it it think)?

Well, sure. But where exactly is this attempt to derail the wagon? Is it Chip’s vote on Rysto? Your and Diver’s votes on Chip? It’s just a vague and amorphous boogeyman that can point anywhere.

I can see a reason – taking the Book in the day does not interfere with Night powers. Non-goons among the mafia might be more eager to take their chance then, than at night.

But like I said before – although the idea of a daytime “vote” for the Book appeals, I’m almost just as happy to allow the free for all to continue and let the chips fall where they may. We’ve been assured of book-related powers being in the game, so why not let them do their thing?

And about Chipacabra – I DO remember the Harry Potter game. And I remember commenting in the spoiled thread about how he was lighting up the scum radar even though he was town. So he gets a bit of extra rope from me, as least for today.

Sorry, for disappearing yesterday I unfortunately got sucked out into the field and into some meetings.

It doesn’t look like I missed much though. I might as well claim even though it’s late in the Day.

[QUOTE=storyteller0910]
Welcome to the game; you are the **Pharmaceutical Sales Representative**

**ALIGNMENT:** Town
**GENERIC:** Vanilla
**WIN CONDITION:** All Scum and malicious third-parties (if any) have been vanquished.

**BACKGROUND:**

You have always been personable, intelligent, and extremely skilled with PowerPoint. Following your college graduation, you quickly gravitated to the career path on which you could do the most good for society, as measured by the total number of Mercedes products in your personal garage: pharmaceutical sales.

You’ve naturally achieved success in your chosen field, but lately you have begun to feel unsatisfied. Yes, there’s money. Yes, there’s adulation. Yes, there’s company-sponsored travel to exotic locales. But so far, _you have never appeared on television._

Then you heard about this show, a new entry in the reality field, at which a bunch of eligible singles will gather at a cabin in the woods and try to win money. You’re sure there were more details, but they were irrelevant - what reality show would be complete without a pharma sales rep?

The killing was… unfortunate. You probably should have read the contract before you signed it. But oh, well; you’re here, and the cameras are rolling. Best see if you can catch a few demons, and maybe earn yourself a short-lived sitcom in the process.

Good luck!

**POWERS:**

1. You have no special powers, abilities, or information, other than a healthy supply of free Xanax samples for anyone who gets nervous about the whole killer Demon thing.

So you guys are losing your supply of xanax.

I don’t want anyone to unvote me at this point since a late Day lynch doesn’t give much info and at least I’m only vanilla. But I think the best thing to do at this point is.

**Vote No Lynch**

Of the people on the Romanic Wagon I think OAOW is the most suspicious but there isn’t anything there more then a gut feeling.

I’m going out of town for the weekend. I’m happy where my vote is right now. I’ll try to follow along on my phone, but won’t be able to post much before Sunday.
