We’ve done this about a year ago, but we need a new fix on evil, dark, heavy music. Mainly metal but can be any type of genre as long as it’s diabolical or just kinda creepy. These are some of the songs we really like- Inside the Fire and Down With the Sickness (w/o the crap he screams in the middle about his mother) by Disturbed KORN - Evolution, Twisted Transistor, Coming Undone Dimmu Borgir- Puritannia Winter Solstice- Calibrate the Virus Drowning Pool - Let the Bodies Hit the Floor Ministry Cradle of Filth Thumb Static X Diamanda Galas Something similar to this is what we want. ---

I don’t know most of the artists in the OP, but seeing as ol’ Diamanda’s there, I’m guessing there’s room to move. There’s always time for a bit of the King. And I don’t necessarily mean Elvis: [![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/cgnwnPqZBdM/hqdefault.jpg "KING DIAMOND - Welcome Home (promo video)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgnwnPqZBdM) Or maybe I did! 1973-74 King Crimson, esp Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Pt (I and II) and Red (the song) - that is some fucked up shit there. I recommend you enjoy at very high volume. ---

**mr. jp** , Isis is a great band. 🙂 I forgot to mention [**Laibach**](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=LAIBACH&sql=11:d9ftxqw5ld0e~T1), specifically their cover of [Sympathy For The Devil](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_zA7nukoZA&feature=related) (video). For other way heavy way out there industrial music, try Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, and even Psycho TV (Genesis P-Orridge is quite an interesting person; he was a part of Throbbing Gristle). More metal(ish): [Neurosis](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=NEUROSIS&sql=11:w9fuxqw5ldde~T1), [Converge](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:0jfixq9hldfe~T1), old [Butthole Surfers](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=BUTTHOLE%7CSURFERS&sql=11:aifpxqw5ldfe~T1), and [Meshuggah](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=MESHUGGAH&sql=11:wvfixq8gld0e~T1) Neurosis - Locust Star [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEVyDjxsUrk](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEVyDjxsUrk) Converge - Eagles Become Vultures [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBxHwJK92jU](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBxHwJK92jU) Butthole Surfers - Cherub [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz6VMmEYOso&feature=related](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz6VMmEYOso&feature=related) Meshuggah - Bleed [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc98u-eGzlc](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc98u-eGzlc) ETA: sorry for the lame HTML coding; it’s late and I’m very tired ---

I permanently silenced a noisy neighbor by blasting the _Dies Irae_ from Verdi’s _Requiem_ at 2:00 a.m. 😃 Verdi’s _Requiem_ is, after all, what you get when you stroll up to the greatest opera composer in the world and say “yo, Giuseppi – why don’t you write a Mass of Death?” ---

Yeah - and one of Fripp’s side projects, the Robert Fripp String Quintet, made a piece of semi-ambient music called _Threnody for Souls in Torment_ that seems like a musical depiction of terror. There’s loads of classical stuff that would also qualify, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for… [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/evil-heavy-dark-music-recommendations/468713.md?page=2)
