It’s just a patent, not something an airline is actually planning on using. There are all kinds of these [ridiculous ideas](http://www.businessinsider.com/airbus-bicycle-seat-patent-2014-7) floating around. ---

It’s not like it’s _ever_ been possible for people in middle or window seats to get out without asking the person on the aisle to move. ---

The lack of out-of-the-box thinking by the airlines is evidenced by the continued assumption that passengers need to be _conscious_ while flying. ---

What if the center seat was 6" above the flanking ones? Your roaming hands are now on a different level than the next person’s butt. Wasn’t that difficult? ---
