Somehow I managed to accidentally install this horrid thing in my Internet Explorer. It’s called the eXact Search Bar and it is pissing me off like you would not believe. I have the Google toolbar and I use that for searching and all of that. I need nothing that this new thing gives me, and it is really bothering me. It pops up tooltips daily even though I’ve repeatedly clicked the “do not show tips next time” link. Worst of all, it seems to have somehow HIJACKED all 404 pages to its own bullshit. That is NOT cool. At least this is the only way I can explain the sudden appearance of this particular 404 page at every damned site I go to (including the SDMB might I add…) I can go to View \> Toolbars and disable it but it is still there in the background and occassionally it comes back on its own, just as the status bar sometimes vanishes on its own or the Google bar and my Links menu decide to randomly rearrange themselves despite locked toolbars… but I digress. I want the thing GONE and I want 404 pages to appear as they are supposed to. Can anyone help meeee? Please? I’m begging… ---

I’m assuming you’ve tried the usual anti-spyware battery such as Spybot, Spyware Blaster, Ad-aware, and such? ---

You know, I Googled for “exact search bar” and didn’t get their website… (of course I haven’t slept in over 24 hours and took a Vicodin about an hour ago so this may be relevant) …so I didn’t see their FAQ. Heh. Thanks guys. You r00l. (I didn’t realize it would be listed as a _program_ in the add/remove thing… jeez. I’m doing well tonight.) ---

Well yeah I knew where to re-download it, and had already done so, it just pissed me off that it somehow vanished. (I just went to the Lavasoft site.)
