Cite for “Astroturf”? And Fox had nothing to do with them except covering them.

This _is_ a whoosh, right?

Just in case- from [two weeks ago](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFCBeKcd-Wk)(long after this thread was last opened). As for astroturf, how 'bout [5+ year old pics](http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/14/912-tea-party-photo-false_n_286082.html) being used to show Americans how huge the 9-12 events were?

Wearing empty holsters to protest not being allowed to wear full ones.

I have never encountered or even heard of that form of protest and I doubt most people have.

So? The OP didn’t ask for only _famous_ types of protest. I think when authorities [ban a form of protest](http://www.thefire.org/article/9338.html), it was getting attention.

Priceless. 😃

You realize at some point this will be the answer to a _2000s Edition Trivial Pursuit_ question: “What do the Republic of Kenya and the National Museum of the American Indian have in common?”

FTA was short for “f\*ck the army”. Grunts in the muck, many of them relatives, would ink it on their helmets or field gear as a visual form of protest. Made it a little hard to explain to Granny in the photos sent home -------- but all the rest of us enjoyed it.

I can’t believe they put somebody throwing a shoe at GWB next to Marian Anderson singing at the Lincoln Memorial. I mean, really?
