I **am** the household too, and I definitely have a rule about replacing the toilet paper roll when I finish it up (or at the very least ensuring that there is additional toilet paper available in the bathroom). That’s one rule you don’t want to break when you live alone

You do it by coding your “url” tag like this:
So, you have a pitcher with one bag in it… [pitcher](http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn216/Avrohead/Misc/milk.jpg)

You get three of those bags inside a bag like this…
[bag](http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn216/Avrohead/Misc/milk_in_a_bag.jpg)

And to force it to display without making a link, like I just did, you wrap “noparse” tags around it.

Thanks **Malacandra**.
It’s a bit sad that I will have to make a screen shot of that to remember how to do it at some other time. I’m at the age where if a new piece of information goes into the memory banks, some important thing like my phone number will flow out the back!

I didn’t even notice it in the photo when looking for bags of milk…

If my brother made the mess in the kitchen, it’s his responsibility to clean it up eventually. If I made the mess, it’s my responsibility. But if it’s bugging me and I have to wait for my food to finish cooking anyways, I clean up his mess. (Sorry, I know we were talking about milk in a bag right now, but I had nothing to contribute to that discussion, so I’m ending the hijack.)

I see you married my husband’s identical twin.
Rules in this house (which can have exceptions):

When you leave the room, the TV/radio/lights get turned off. The exception is IF the viewer/listener/user of light is waiting for TV show to start/news/NPR has something good on/it’s gloomy outside.

Last one in at night turns off the front porch and side deck lights. Exception: everyone except me does not do this.

If I want to watch a TV show, the kids/husband get relegated to the basement TV. I like this rule a LOT, even though I never lobbied for it or insisted upon it. The way to get this rule enacted in your favor is to become addicted to a show (one at a time) and when everyone else is tired of it, they wander away on their own accord, leaving you the loveseat and the flat screen with remote. The basement TV is not a hardship, so don’t judge me too severely! (what it all means in real time is that my family does not want to join me in re-re-re-re-re-rewatching ST:TOS; Frasier; House or Wild Wild West).

The Daily Show pre-empts all other 10pm fare–the entire family watches this one (together).

Perhaps somebody needs to start an “Ask the people who buy milk in bags” thread.

Seriously.

I can think of a few questions I’d ask!
And household rules? I gots none.

:0) I have to imagine that that thread would be a short one.

Also I just thought of another one… If you get up from the “good” chair and someone else gets in it while you’re gone, too bad, so sad… Unless a parent asks you to do something that requires you to move. Or, unless you ARE the parent…

Re: Milk in bags–seriously, please start a thread, just what in the hell is going on there? I’m wondering if this is how milk is sold in your part of the universe or if you are buying some special type of milk or if it is delivered or what.

I’ve had milk in bags all my life too (well, with the exception of the three years in Germany). Québec and Ontario for me. It’s normal, it’s available everywhere, and is the most practical way to buy 4L of milk at once. It is possible to buy milk in 1L and 2L cartons, and even in plastic jugs for some brands, but volumes larger than that come in bags. We (ok…I…my husband drinks less milk than me) go through about 8-10L a week, so buying bags makes the most sense for us. The jugs can be bought in grocery stores, usually in the milk aisle, and rarely cost more than a dollar or two unless you want pretty pictures on them or something. Ours is white.

Ok, rules…

If my husband is not working/sick/at home during the day and I’m at work/school, the rule is that he must be showered and dressed, even if it’s just jeans and a t-shirt, before I get home. I hate coming home from school/work and seeing him sitting at the computer in his underwear. Usually this means he’s coming out of the shower as I walk in the door, but that’s good enough for me. Exceptions: he worked nights/just returned from a business trip and his schedule and internal clock are completely fucked up. He gets a day or two of lee-way on that.

I can’t think of anything else at the moment, though I’m sure there are a ton of unspoken rules.

I have traveled through Europe, UK–hell, I’ve been to Iceland! I have never seen milk in bags. (it’s hard some places to find milk at all–not that I’m drinking milk on my vacations). 😕 If I had thought of it (at all), I would have assumed that Europeans etc still had their milk delivered (in UK it’s called a milk float instead of the milkman, no?).

I have seen milk come in a HUGE bag and be placed in a dispensing machine at a hotel (and my college dorm), but that is not the same thing at all.

How does your orange juice come?

I trained my son to put the toilet paper on the dispenser and another roll on the spot for the spare roll. He is 2 now and has been doing this for nearly a year now. He is proud he has a chore and makes a great show of doing it. We have a free standing holder so it is really easy, but he enjoys it. So the usual rule of if you use the last bit, get out a new roll is excepted, to if you use the last bit, call in for the boy to do his job.

There are several house rules that have the exception “unless you are too short to reach.” This means hubby and **KellyM** have to do it, but not me or the kids.

Milk in bags I can sort of get, but milk-by-the-liter!? Madness. Everyone knows milk comes in gallons, quarts, and half pints!

The largest selection of orange juice comes in 2 L waxed paperboard cartons with a spout. We can get the larger plastic jugs of Tropicana and the like, as well. We used to be able to buy orange juice in bags like the milk, and you would need another pitcher, but I haven’t looked for it years.

You can get chocolate milk in 4L bags as well.
