Experiences with Medicare vs Medicare Advantage?

When I looked at them, my doctors were not in any MA plan, so doing a Medigap was a no-brainer. We’ve never had to go to the doctor while visiting our kids, but knowing we could go to any doctor is nice.
Depending on your financial situation, you can choose to trade off slightly higher monthly payments for not getting hit with bills if something happens. My wife got both a hip and a knee replaced, and the total cost to us was like $50 for drugs.
But definitely go to the other thread. JohnT did a great job explaining it.

Not all Advantage plans restrict you to a network of doctors. Ours is a PPO, we can go anywhere we want. Some of the amounts the plan pays are slightly less if you’re out of network, but not much.

Looks like I’m screwed. Back in October 2019 I was automatically put on Medicare because I had been on disability for 2 years. I was not feeling well and didn’t understand about the need for gap insurance. Now I’ve been told that since I didn’t apply when I was first put on Medicare I have to give through underwriting to get gap coverage. It’s diubtful that anyone will want to cover me.

I did not see this, sorry. When do you turn 65?
