okay, the episode of futurama where they age in reverse. at the end when they get back to the right age leela is like “I think I may be a few years younger even!” and then amy says “yeah, me too!” and winks. and that seems like a joke, because she winked, but I can’t really grasp what the joke was. is it just that amy is STILL younger and cuter? or is there something else that I don’t get? because her winking makes it seem like there is more to it (she’s nearly naked at the time, did she ‘nodice’ something about herself?) am I reading more into nothing? ---

I think it’s just playing off the common stereotype of women lying about their age and making themselves out to be younger than they are. Nothing too deep. ---

Heh, I saw this thread, and I knew it was about this episode, sicne it was the one on tonight. I actually expected a question on what a folian (sp?) web is. I I loved the joke about bender’s robo, or RNA. I suppose you have to know a little genetics or cellular biology to get that one. Although a little something I noticed that was almost “wrong” in this episode. There is an ongoing joke in the series that the French language is gone and no one understands it, yet the Gargoyle said Bon Wei (sp?), French for good bye if I am not mistaken. ---

I’m pretty sure you’re mistaken. French for goodbye is _au revoir_. ---

Since Amy’s always making snarky comments about Leela’s looks, I took it to mean she was assuming that Leela was lying about being younger, because obviously – in Amy’s view – she didn’t look any younger. “Hooray! I’m a teenage heartthrob again!” ---

how old IS amy anyway? wasn’t she originally introduced as an intern? which I would guess would mean shes 21-22 at most, maybe younger. ---

Alright, I’m hard of hearing, he does say bonne nuit, but it’s still French, and French is not suppossed to exist. Or maybe the gargoyles are secrety hording it so that they may communicate without anyone else knowing? “You mean I’m going to revert through all my larval stages?” “Sure, like you need all your blood!” ---

I thought it was Amy being snarky because she’s the cute one and gets all the attention. Leela was happy about being younger but Amy had to pipe up and say that she was younger too, and therefore Leela has no ‘net’ gain. That was badly explained. 🙂 ---

I don’t remember Amy winking. I didn’t think that was a joke at all; I thought it was just Amy stating a fact: that they’re a little younger. Are we sure there was a wink? ---

What the heck was that whole gargoyle ending about anyway? Was there any significance to his name (other than it being the demon from The Exorcist)? What did he mean, “That’s how papa regained his freedom…”? And did anyone else find those smirking creatures incredibly creepy? ---

Just saw it last night, after reading this thread, so I was looking for it. She does, indeed, wink. And it seems to be a conspiratorial wink, too. The joke, I think, was that Leela and Amy both know they are not, in fact, any younger, but both plan to use the events of the episode as a pretext for claiming to be younger than they really are. ---
