“Der Trihs” is a minor character from the webcomic _Schlock Mercenary_. He wore red and was always getting shot & blown & shredded to bits (they have really good medicine, so he kept living through it even when reduced to just a head); his name is “red shirt” backwards and is a reference to the Redshirts of _Star Trek_ who were infamously always the first to die. The funniest reaction to my username was the time a poster mentioned he/she had always thought it was Dutch. ---

I’m a bit of a math geek. A [vinculum](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinculum_(symbol)) is the line you write over the repeating sequence of numbers when you convert a fraction into a repeating decimal ( like 1/3 = 0.33333… or 0.3 with a line, if you remember grade school). So I had that in mine when picking a username, however I thought it looked and sounded better by removing the N and adding an extra L. ---

First, I have to clear up that my handle means “Einstein’s dog” in German. I had been lurking for some years before one night, I was drunk and thus courageous enough to finally sign up, but hadn’t thought of a user name before. So I did a little brainstorming and somehow remembered that when I was young, I had always wanted a dog and liked to call it Einstein (which then I had found rather quaint, but not anymore). Anyway, my drunken mind decided to turn it around and make it Einstein’s dog rather than a dog called Einstein, and German, because well, I am German. I’ve sometimes regretted to not have put enough (sober) thought in deciding on my handle, but I’m comfortable enough with it to spare myself from the trouble of changing it. ---

My Ex wanted me to sign up as “Satan’s Valet” which was a character off of Scrubs but the System wouldn’t allow it, so I just went with the longest palindrome I could think of off the top of my head. ---

When I signed up, I played lacrosse at Western Michigan University. My number was 93. I need a new name, as that totally doesn’t apply to me anymore. On Giraffe’s board, I’m Standard American White Guy, because I think I’m about the most average cracker that exists. ---
