Ruby and Streaker were the first two cats that I had that passed into the Happy Hunting Grounds. I guess that makes my username feline-related memento mori. The cool thing is, I’ve been able to use it as as username in several places and it’s never taken. ---

Comes from my name. I used **Sparrow** once upon a time, got sick of it. In 9th grade I hit on a solution the first three letters of my first name and last three of my last name to form my username. **Gre** gory 😉 **lby**. On rare occasions that I find **Grelby** is taken, I generally modify it to **Grolby** , and example being my AIM screen name. There you have it. ---

A few years ago when I discovered the SDMB, I thought “Alias” was a pretty cool name for the boards because it sounds cool, and it _is_ an alias. Well, when the show Alias debuted on ABC, I felt like a total fool because I didn’t want people to think I was ripping the show off. Honestly, I’ve never even seen an episode. ---

An ex referred to me as his “huggy wuggy wolverine”. I usually assume “Wolverine” is taken when I sign on a board. I also don’t want people to think I’m referring to myself as the X-man. I usually use some variation of the wolverine’s name. I want one. ---

Mine’s pretty boring. I just tried to find something kinda of gypsy-ish. I’ve been thinking of changing to “MensaMama”. See I am a stay-at-home-mom who just found out that I qualify for Mensa. WooooHoooooo!!! Big ego boost here because doing laundry and changing diapers just isn’t condusive to feeling good about yourself. So, do you guys think that name is a little uppity? I don’t want to come off snobbish but I’m keeping this acheivement to myself in the real world and thought why not let it all hang out in the virtual one? BTW, I’m fairly new here but I love this board. It keeps me sane. ---

Welcome aboard **Copper\_moon**. Another Texas newbie here. I don’t think **MensaMama** is uppity considering the level of intelligence displayed on this board. I qualified for Mensa many years ago and was a member for a while but don’t feel all that smart around here. It’s a lot of fun though. ---

I have a favorite, hideous night shirt that shows three cats in sombreros playing Mariachi music. The cats are dressed in neon Mariachi clothes. There is a fourth one on the back, a kitten, sitting in a piece of pottery staring at whoever’s looking at my back. The back side also shows the butts & tails of the three Mariachi Kitties on the front. This is the ugliest, trashiest thing I own and I love it dearly. It just cracks me up. ---

I guess this is one of these threads that you post in when you’re just starting out on a board. Man, it’s been a while since I’ve tried to ingratiate myself into a new net community, I forget how it goes… **McDuff**. If I were Scottish, I’d have a clan. I’m not Scottish, but if I could pick a clan, it would be the Clan Duff. Just because it sounds cool. It has nothing to do with Springfield’s favourite beer. I’ve had the name McDuff for about seventy three billion years now. It has become so much a part of my identity that I have seriously considered changing my real life honest to goodness last name to McDuff. (And my middle name to Horatio, but that’s a whole other barrel of mushrooms) I think I picked it up in school somewhere. Someone called me it at random and it stuck. I’m pretty sure I didn’t even like the guy, which just goes to show that everything happens for a reason. Possibly. ---

Take your run-of-the-mill **C Major** chord on the piano, **C** - **E** - **G** , and add a seventh for tension: **Bb**. Now sadden it by flattening the third, **E** becomes **Eb** , making it a minor chord. Finally, add a bit of spice by flatting the fifth, **G** becomes **Gb**. You now have a **minor 7 flat 5** chord, otherwise known as _half-diminished_. It’s a tense chord, and not a place you want to stay for long. It is most often the ii in a ii-V-I progression in a minor key. I like jazz and am fascinated by these progressions that I will never master on the guitar. ---

lamntcrstn minus a few vowels is the true identity of a radio program’s “Super Hero.” One of Flip Wilson’s albums had a bit involving his uncle trying out for the announcer’s part of the radio show. When establishing a secondary screen name I learned that the number of characters was limited, so dropped some of the vowels. I had picked the name prior to Alec Baldwins portrayal of said character. ---

For lack of a better analogy, it removes “small” sets.
