Local news in Boston is now reporting that it is confirmed as an explosive device, though the back-to-back explosions made that a pretty safe bet beforehand. ---

CBS is saying the blasts were three minutes apart, and if that’s right and the reports about “devices” are true, it’s certainly not an accident. But there’s nothing to be gained by jumping to conclusions about who did it at this point. ---

They left about 1/2 hour before the explosion and were on the train back to the hotel when it happened so they didn’t hear or feel it. They were having trouble with their cell phones, he thinks because of everyone trying to call at once. **Carl Corey,** I hope you hear from your father soon and that he’s all right as well. ---

I’m sure we’ll get some confirmation of the cause before long. Steam pipe/gas line seems unlikely, but I guess it could happen. What a world we live in where a utility explosion would seem to be a relief. ---
