NBC News is reporting an MIT police officer suffered life-threatening injuries. Yikes. Not a good week for the greater Boston Metropolitan area. ---

CNN is reporting the officer that was shot in the MIT incident has died. Still no word on whether it is related, and the shooter appears to still be at large. ---

It sounds to me like random city crime that just happened to occur on the MIT campus, as opposed to anything actually targeting MIT. At least, I really hope so. ☹ The MIT police are all great people. Unlike a lot of college “police”, they are actual legal police officers, not rent-a-cops, and I think most of them were previously on the Boston/Cambridge/etc. force. They did a fantastic job of being understanding of all us weirdo nerds when I was there. I hope the officer is okay. ---

No reason to consider the MIT incident is related. It could just be the stupidest common criminal alive who tried to break into a building while the police presence is at maximum level. ---

I don’t know about that but right now CNN is showing the live feed from WCVB in Boston. The police have someone on the ground spread eagled and he is not black, very def sandy blond/brown haired white guy. This is in Watertown. Not sure if this is related to the MIT shooting much less the marathon bombing but it sure as hell has a lot of law enforcement and media on the scene. ---

CNN is reporting live. There is a massive multi-agency response in Watertown, not too far from MIT. Gunfire and explosions were reported. Two suspects reported in custody. ---
