The controlled demolition may have been a suspicious package, not a confirmed explosive device. It’s too soon to tell and the police aren’t saying. I have lots of friends running Boston, but based on their times they were either finished or not yet on Boylston. But one of them would be close and the online times don’t update often enough so I’m not sure where she was. There were also lots of friends spectating near the finish line and at least one friend who is a cop stationed at the finish line. I can’t say how much this hits home. ---

Something being detonated by a bomb squad doesn’t have to be a bomb, it can just be something that looks suspicious. But in the broader context it sounds like bombs. ---

I’ve got friends running. It’s a block from where a family member works. Hope everyone is OK. Blaming the Tea Party for this? Really? That’s just sick. I can’t imagine hating people with different political view than me so much that I jump to assume it’s them when terror attacks happen. ---

Confirmed explosion at the JFK library, according to scanner feed. The markets are tanking. Dow is down 265 as of right now. ---

It looks like the police and fire response to this has been fantastic. It’s a horrible situation, but it looks like these professionals have been able to do well with what they have. ---

That supposition is \*not \*born of simple enmity (and stating that it _is_ is “just sick” :dubious: , as is dismissing political disagreement as simple emotionalism, if you want to take it to the Pit, friend ). No, that supposition comes from our regular experience in this country with anti-government domestic terrorism, combined with the notability of this date. ---
