Don’t be a wisecrack, and say “Dios mio!” or “Oh, my god” in some other foreign language. Anyway, is there an expression to replace “Oh, my god”, especially for an atheist?

“Oh, my goodness!”
“Goodness gracious!”
“For goodness’ sake!”
“Oh, my god is fake!”
“Oh, my god is unreal!”
“Oh, my god does not exist!”
“Oh, my god is not believed by me!”
“Oh, my god is denied by me!”
“Oh, my god is unworshipped by me!”

Possible expressions for people who do not believe in a god?

This only applies to talking on the internet, but I had a friend who tried to replace “omg” with “omlog” (“oh my lack of god”). It didn’t catch on.

Haha. Very funny. Though, that expression can easily be used by monotheists too. I see no conflict between science and religion. The following phrase may be considered disagreeable, but it makes sense to me: Scientist Stephen Jay Gould (1997) argued that science and religion are entirely different and nonoverlapping realms of understanding the world. Science deals with testable claims about the natural world that can be answered with data, whereas religion deals with untestable claims about moral values that can’t be answered with data. Although not all scientists and theologists accept Gould’s model, I adopt it for the purposes and in the attempt to contradict you.

I use “Holy crap!” but I learned that from my mother the Methodist.

I still use all of the curses I grew up hearing, so I say “Jesus [fucking] Christ!” and “God damn it!” even though I don’t believe in a god. In the company of my elders or children I resort to old-fashioned pseudocurses like “Criminently” or “Dad blast it!” or “What in the Sam Hill?”

When I was in high school, “Oh my head” was popular. I hear it from time to time, and it always comes from someone from the MA North Shore who was in HS in the 80s.

I’m fond of “Hoykawow!” which was the ejaculation of choice of Alley Oop in the old comic strip by V.T. Hamlin.

I’ll also bust out with “Gosharooty!” It almost certainly predates Cutey Bunny, but that’s where I learned it.

Also, “Kricfalusi!” and “Sangahyando!” (The former is the animator for “Ren & Stimpy,” and the latter is a minor off-stage character in Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings.”

And geology is a rich field. “Schist!” “Karst!” and “Gabbro!”

There are lots of non-cuss cuss words out there, just waiting to be exploited!

This was used all the time by Samantha on Bewitched. I always thought it was something like “witches’ honor,” which was made up for the show.

My sister like OMB, which means “Oh my Buddha.” And it’s specifically because that’s a religion she doesn’t believe in. Why would people who actually believe in a God want to use his name for something so unimportant?
