Saying (or writing) something as being the “Worst. \_\_\_\_\_. Ever.” Or best \_\_\_ ever, stupidest \_\_\_\_ ever, etc. Using periods like that for emphasis is beyond hackneyed at this point. Comic Book Guy, you ain’t. ---

There’s a couple of them for me. I hate the phrase, “common courtesy.” Why? I haven’t a clue, but it irritates me to no end. The other is when someone asks an expecting couple if they are hoping for a boy or a girl and they respond with, “we don’t care as long as it’s healthy.” Or even worse, when they say, “as long as it has ten fingers and ten toes…” Aaaaaaaaaaaargh. Who the hell _wouldn’t_ want a healthy child??? A funny thing happened because of this last year. One of my best friends was pregnant and she knew that I hated the aformentioned phrase. One day we were out shopping and an old acquantence of hers asked the dreaded question, “what are you hoping for?” My friend deadpanned, “Well, we really want a girl, but if it’s a boy we hope he has a very big penis.” Now only a true friend would go the extra mile to brighten your day like that. 😃 ---

I hate when people swear and then say “pardon my French”. It doesn’t sound anything like French to me, and if you don’t want to swear then don’t or don’t try to apologize for it. ---

I rather dislike the expression “F\*\*k off and die, Mortimer Snerd,” which is why I’m glad no-one uses it.
