# extremely basic computer question

When I go to a site that has sound, or if someone sends me a sound-containing e-card, I don’t hear anything. What software is my machine missing? (Note that I have no problem hearing mp3s, using Winamp, or hearing movie clips with sound using Windows Media Player).

I guess I should point out that I used to get sound in these instances, but haven’t since recovering from a HD crash and replacing the HD.

there are some settings in the sound control section for when you want dings and clangs opening and closing programmes
Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices is what mine is called on XP
but it must be fairly similar on 98/95 or the other MS series of operating systems
hope you get a better help than this…i have never set mine… just know its there:cool:
