I only lost it once with a nurse and the needle. She stuck it in and moved it around. She did this a number of times, and I’m gritting my teeth after about site 6 saying hurry I can’t take this much longer. Stop. Stop. Finally yelling Pull it out now! I’ve been told by others testing me that I have a high pain tolerance and they can’t believe how calm I remained. That nurse was just very talented at torture I guess.

Yeah, I saw where this was going. I take generic Lasix orally too, and it’s hard enough to wake up and go pee when you’re NOT taking a strong pain pill. On the other hand, Lasix is wonderful at moving the excess fluid out of your body.

I usually feel bad for the nurses and vampires that come to take my blood. I am a VERY hard stick, and jusssssttt when they think they feel the vein “foom”! I think it migrates to the other side of my arm. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain so I usually don’t mind, and even let the junior vampires practice on me because I figure what the hell, their track record is usually no better than the ones that have been there a few years.

However, I found out what my secret was. I had been having to go for regular blood draws for my blood thinner levels, and there is an older lady at the blood draw lab at my doctors office. She felt around a bit, after warning her that I was a tough stick and not to feel bad if she didn’t get it first try, she palpated extra deep and told me that I just have very deeeep veins. She took that needle and WHAM! Shoved it in hard and fast right where she felt the vein. It was a miracle. She got me first try, and for every time after that, WHAM! first try. When I instructed the vampires at the hospital as to the technique, that my veins are deep and like to vasoconstrict the very second they feel a poke, most of them got it first try too.

However, I blew my IV in the hospital right after they had given me a double Lasix dose to try to get rid of my marshmallow ass. Earlier in my stay I had blown both veins toward the bends of both arms, and the nurse really wanted to get one on my forearm, but try as she would, along with the head vamp they couldn’t feel anything to go for. Undaunted, they called for the new nurse supervisor, who was jusssst about to go off shift. (He was a sweety) Apparently before being a nurse, he was a vet tech. I told him I was a hard stick and he waved it off saying, “If I can find a vein in a dehydrated baby bird, I can get one on you”, and indeed he did, a forearm stick where no one else could feel a vein. It was a good IV too! It lasted for nearly the whole rest of the time!

I have deep veins too. I’ve found that if I ask the vamp to tie the tourniquet uncomfortably tight, they seem to have an easier time of finding a vein and not having it collapse. Perhaps you could ask for this the next time you have to get stuck.

Wow. There are no words. Wishing you the best.

Infectious Disease doctor tomorrow, the face pain is keeping me up, but at least it looks better! Cross your fingers!

Ugh, best of luck! And I’m so happy you have someone like your boyfriend to go through all this with you. Based on what you’re saying here… he sounds like a keeper.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…
What exactly are you pitting? I mean, sucks to be you and all, but this looks more like a sympathy plea or life sucks post, which might be better suited to one of the forums I ignore.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…

Report it to be moved to MPSIMS and move on?

No. Report it and let the OP know why, so that they follow the rules in the future.

I was going to explain why your attempt at “cool guy” fails, but it’s easier just to point out that you’re still a turd.

Don’t the mods usually **say **why they’ve moved a thread?

I’m sure your e-penis is very large, dear, but there’s no need to wipe it all over every thread you happen to pass by.

Not to mention, didn’t we go through this before the update, when the thread was originally posted?

No.

Ok. I moved the thread from The BBQ Pit to Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share. That means the personal attacks must come to an end. This sort of stuff is fine in the Pit, of course, but we’re not there anymore.

I’m so glad to hear things are doing better. Give your BBFF all our thanks. The ENT/dentist was a pain, but having the cultures is very useful to make sure that you are on the right antibiotics. I was on vancomycin for four weeks last year and just kept getting worse. If not for the cultures taken early, we would not have known that my bug was invulnerable to vanco and gentamycin.
