Eyeball tattoos - yay or nay?

They did eyeball tattoos on InkMaster one time. It was straight cringe-watching.

Yay = Woohoo!
Yea = Yes

Yea or Nay

The eyes have it.

[pedantic] “Yea” is a very ambiguous word and can mean either “yes” or “woohoo!” or “this much”. I prefer “Yeah” for an unambiguous “yes”.[/pedantic]

As to the topic at hand, another vote for oh hell no! I have nothing against tattoos. 2 of my 3 kids have them, and I’ve thought about getting one myself - but easily concealable. No way I’d have one that was 100% permanently visible for the rest of my life. I try to envision these folks in their senior years, and just can’t picture it.

The cataracts will hide it.

Perhaps true, but the phrase “Yea or Nay” is “Yea or Nay”. “Nay” could be confused with the sound a horse makes, so one could choose to ask “Yes or No?”, but if you’ve chosen to ask “Yea or Nay”, despite all ambiguities, you should still spell it correctly.

Which brings up an interesting point. Suppose you have black tattooed on your eyeball like the guy in the OP. Then suppose that when you get older you require cataract surgery. Would the surgeon be able to see what he needs to see to do the surgery? Would the lasers be able to do their thing through the black dye? Would they heat up the dye and cause problems from the heat?

The tattoo dye is actually in the sclera, which is the white surrounding the pupil. During cataract surgery the doctor makes an incision around the base of the cornea and goes in through the pupil so the surgery is in an area of the eye without dye except possibly for the initial incision. I doubt it would be any different than operating on any other tattoed skin.

Shame, since it would be a good match for your username.

Oh HELLLL No! I’m not exactly a fan of tattoo’s anyway, but why anyone would do this him/herself is completely beyond me!

:dubious: No they didn’t. They’ve done face tattoos but I do not remember them ever doing eyeball tattoos, and I would think the legal aspects of the show wouldn’t let them do something like that.

I can find nothing online about them ever having done eyeball tattoos on the show. (Tattoos of eyeballs yes, but not on eyeballs.)

[ultra pedantic]The sound a horse makes is “neigh”.[ultra pedantic]

I get it, SR, I really do. Just had to poke fun at the “yea = yes” part. No harm meant.

“Nay” or “Neigh” being the sound a horse makes is appropriate because, IMHO, if you get one of these you’re part horse, specifically the part right below the tail. I agree with the above sentiments, not just no, but HEEEELLL NO!
One question about them; would these end up with that shade of green that all skin tattoos tend to once the pigment fades or something else because the base (eyeball vs. skin) is a different base color?
