> Hey fellas, I was hanging around the break room at work today and I caught wind of something that I’d never heard before. It seems that one of the reasons that grown men like to do Tae Kwon Do is to make up for the fact that they all have tiny little balls.
>
> Is there any truth to that? I mean, golly, I’d never heard it ever put like that and now I’m just interested in your opinions.
>
> Thanks in advance guys.

You forgot to mention balding as part of the reason. Your co-workers obviously didn’t do their research.

Yes, of course.

> [@](#):

> You bring up handedness - for which there are genetic correlations, but only up to a point and it appears the heritability of handedness from parents isn’t even 50% (i.e. it’s not the most important factor). Likewise, even if sexuality has a genetic component, it’s not possible at the moment to claim it’s as important a factor as you make out.

But I’m not claiming it’s a super-important component. I’m claiming it is likely A component. If it were super-important, identical twins would show more than 52% correlation in sexuality. If it were unimportant, they would likely show the same correlation as fraternal twins. That’s all I’m saying.

The other problem with sexuality is that it does not appear to be binary, or even trinary. I, for example, am in the bisexual range primarily favoring the opposite sex but not averse to same-sex encounters. Other people, I think, tend to occupy various positions in the range, from mid-line bisexual to the monosexual extremes (cf. Kinsey). It seems unlikely that a single coherent gene, or even a discrete group of genes, would be likely to account for this. In the language of programming, genetics appears to be “spaghetti code”, scattershot and interwoven.

Of course, the concept of the Kinsey Scale could be completely off-base, I might well be just an outlier.

It’s weird, really…

Every post **clothahump** makes shows up on my screen in a series of “hadouken!” and “shoryuken!” just repeated over and over again. I’m not sure if it’s my browser, or what. Does anybody know? I’m using Windows 98 and Netscape Navigator on my AOL dial-up. Could that be it?

Reasoned responses. I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there. Reasoned responses. :D:D

Allow a gentle refresher:

> [@Left\_Hand\_of\_Dorkness](#):
>
> Step 3 is your biggest problem. An absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
>
> There are good reasons to believe that homosexuality has a genetic component. As just one example, [identical twins are much likelier to both be gay than fraternal twins](http://lakeweedatarrowhead.net/23scient.htm). It also shows up in other species, including species that are totally devoid of culture. Both phenomena are difficult to explain if you eliminate the possibility of a genetic component.
>
> Indeed, such evidence provide the impetus to find genetic components of homosexuality: we’ve got pretty good reasons to think they’re there, even if we haven’t found them yet.
>
> If you notice in the news, we’re all the time finding genetic markers for various traits. Do ou assume that there’s no genetic component of a condition until we actually find it?

But you’re disagreeing with him. Therefore your argument is de facto not reasoned.

I have not tried it, but I have heard that Opera on Debian renders his posts as something like “_ecki ecki phtang nee-whomp_”.
