No, they’re not. They’re upper-case 'I’s, right and proper, ‘I’ as in “Igloo”, though rendered without horizontal bars in the SDMB font. (Ironically, this does become clear if you copy the message and prepare to post it to the SDMB, since, at least on my computer, the edit box for posts uses a font where upper-case ‘I’ has horizontal bars)

For those who despise the ridiculous SDMB Trebuchet font, and prefer a much more readable Tahoma or Verdana, here are instructions for changing your IE7 style sheet: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=8779545&postcount=47. ETA:

The aforementioned fonts distingish Ls from Is, and carry other advantages as well, such as bolding that looks bold, etc. The edit box uses Tahoma.

Everyone seems to have missed the part that pretty much tells you the answer:

Repost this with the title “what’s wrong here”, and when you click "post ", the answer will be really obvious.

(Although again, you could argue that there should be a question mark. And a capital letter.)

I think everyone saw this, and didn’t know what it meant. Why don’t you tell us? Or was it originally, as I suspected, just meant to be a ruse to get people to keep pointlessly posting this all over?

I think that it’s meant to be a comment on how stupid the person posting it is. Once you post the thing with no errors because you were told to by let you let everyone know you’re a moron. So “What’s wrong here?” is refering to either on facebook, the internet, or with the person posting as an insult. Kind of clever of whoever thought it up, but I think most of the people there will miss it.

Or if we’re just used to Facebook posts that look like that… I’m surprised the capitalization was consistent and the title of the quiz were spelled correctly.
